Ten years ago, Medina County Lifestyle Magazine set out with a simple yet powerful mission — to connect residents with the people, places and stories that make our community shine. Since our first issue in January 2016, the magazine has celebrated the businesses, leaders, and neighbors who embody the heart of Medina County.
Our story began 19 years ago when publisher Joe Violi moved to Medina and quickly fell in love with the town and its strong sense of community. When he decided to launch Medina County Lifestyle Magazine, he saw it as the perfect opportunity to connect readers and local businesses — a way to celebrate the people, places and stories that make Medina County so special. What began as a vision to highlight the best of the area has since become a trusted resource and a reflection of the community’s vibrant spirit.
At its core, Medina County Lifestyle Magazine is more than a magazine — it’s a reflection of the community’s spirit. From the beginning, our goal has been to highlight the most positive aspects of living here: the creativity of local entrepreneurs, the generosity of volunteers and the beauty of the everyday moments that define Medina County life.
As Editor Emily Shea-Owen explains, “Medina County Lifestyle is more than just a magazine — it’s a true community resource. Its purpose goes beyond the pages; it’s about bringing people together. Whether it's highlighting an upcoming charity event or sharing a favorite recipe from a local chef, every story is chosen with care. My goal is to shine a light on the incredible people who make our community so special and to help create meaningful connections through the stories we tell.”
Over the past decade, the magazine has featured hundreds of local businesses, organizations and nonprofits that make Medina County thrive. From exploring the fairways at Shale Creek Golf Club and savoring dinner at The Oaks, to featuring wellness destinations like Tru Barre and celebrating the natural beauty of the Medina County Park District, each story has showcased the best our county has to offer.
We’ve also shared the sweet success of Honey Bee Bakery, the nostalgic fun of Sweets & Geeks, the creative energy at Circles on the Square and the lively atmosphere of The Galaxy Restaurant and Entertainment Center. Through each feature, we’ve strengthened the connection between our readers and the local businesses they love.
As Publication Director Martha Doyle shares, “Every day, I have the privilege of connecting with passionate, dedicated individuals who care deeply about making our community stronger. Medina County is full of outstanding people — leaders, innovators and volunteers — who inspire me daily with their commitment and collaboration. It’s a privilege to be part of such a vibrant and engaged community.”
Behind every issue are the loyal marketing partners who make Medina County Lifestyle Magazine possible. Their support allows us to continue highlighting the local businesses, services, and stories that enrich everyday life.
We are deeply grateful for our longtime partners — B.A. Schrock Financial Group, JK Gift Shop, Pristine Clean Power Washing, The Gutter Boys, Medina County District Library, Lexus of Cleveland, 2PiFit, Bent Nail Architectural Millwork, Budget Lightscapes, Cabinet-S-Top, Kauffman Lawn Furniture and Swiss Country Lawn & Crafts — whose continued belief in the power of community storytelling keeps this publication thriving. These partnerships represent more than just advertising relationships. They’re a shared commitment to celebrating and sustaining local business.
Of course, the heartbeat of Medina County Lifestyle Magazine lies in the relationships built with the small businesses and community members who fill its pages. To mark this milestone, a few of our long-term partners shared what being part of the magazine means to them and how it makes a positive impact on the community:
Rick Wallace, Wallace Home Furnishings, says:
“I have been partnering with Medina County Lifestyle for four years and I am completely satisfied with their performance.”
Courtney Gruber, Chippewa Stone, adds:
“Thank you for helping us continue to build our brand, providing excellent customer service and a great relationship! Happy 10th Anniversary!”
Christy Overman, Bubbles & Bows, shares:
“Congrats on 10 years! The magazine has allowed us to connect with so many wonderful businesses and individuals.”
Their words reflect what has always been at the heart of Medina County Lifestyle: connection, collaboration and community.
As we celebrate this milestone, we’re filled with gratitude — for our readers, partners and everyone who has shared their stories with us. This anniversary is not just a look back at 10 years of success; it’s a promise to keep shining a light on the people and places that make Medina County extraordinary.
Here’s to the next decade of storytelling — of connecting, inspiring and celebrating all that makes this community home. Because in Medina County, every story is part of our story — and we’re honored to keep telling it.
Medina County Lifestyle's purpose goes beyond the pages; it’s about bringing people together. Whether it's highlighting an upcoming charity event or sharing a favorite recipe from a local chef, every story is chosen with care.
