Ingredients:
One sleeve of saltine crackers
Two sticks (one cup) butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup chocolate chips (milk or dark chocolate)
Method:
Heat the oven to 425 degrees. Line the crackers on a cookie sheet so they cover the pan. Slowly melt the butter in a heavy bottom pan. When melted, add the brown sugar and bring to a boil for about 5 minutes and then pour it over the saltines. Use a spatula to even the mixture over the crackers. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes for a chewy result, 10 minutes for crispy. Remove from the oven and cover the caramel mixture with the chocolate chips - the chips will melt from the hot caramel. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel. Let the candy cool and then break or cut into pieces. For a variety, you can add peppermint or nuts to the melted chocolate before it cools.
