During the holidays, we all have special celebrations and get-togethers that help us share our Christmas memories from one generation to another. From tree lighting ceremonies to caroling to colorful parades, we each have special traditions to help us keep the yuletide spirit alive.
For many people, a holiday season would not be complete without a tour of local Christmas lighting exhibits. Throughout December, many homeowners and organizations set up elaborate light displays to heighten the festive mood.
Unlike yesteryear’s Christmas displays, which featured at most a few twinkling lights, today’s holiday light shows are true productions that provide unforgettable audio/visual experiences. They feature custom-built stands and displays, trees decked out with colorful decorations and computer animated lighting synchronized with music.
Further accoutrements include well-planned landscapes that are adorned by beloved characters from favorite Christmas movies and television shows, such as A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. All of these trappings are designed to evoke the memories of Christmases past.
Recently, the Hendersonville Parks & Recreation Department and HolidayFest have published a map that shows the locations of the more prominent light displays across the city. This year’s map will be available by early December from the park’s website and social media pages.
From Memorial Park to Luna Lane to Laurens Way, these exhibits are not to be missed. Be sure to work some time into your busy holiday schedule to take your family to see the displays. You will be glad that you did.
