Clarity Without Limits

Q&A with Dr. Hanna on visual independence, advanced surgery, and returning to what matters most

The ability to explore the world with ease—whether boarding a last-minute flight, spotting details along a desert trail, or simply recognizing a familiar face across the room—is something most people take for granted until it begins to fade. Vision plays a quiet and essential role in how we experience independence, confidence, and connection to everyday life. For those ready to regain that sense of freedom, advancements in ophthalmology are opening new doors.

At Precise Sight, Harvard-trained surgeon Dr. Eissa Hanna focuses on both the technical precision and real-life impact of modern eye care, helping patients return to the activities and experiences that matter most. In the following Q&A, Dr. Hanna offers insight into the surgical innovations, changing how patients see and live.

Q: How does restoring a patient’s vision, specifically through advanced lens technology, give them a new sense of independence to travel and experience the world?

A: One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is to see how patients rediscover activities they slowly stopped enjoying because of declining vision. Many people don’t realize how cataracts affect their confidence until after surgery. With today’s advanced lens technology, we can often reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses for activities like reading menus, golfing, driving at night, using a phone, or traveling.

For most patients, it truly becomes a ‘reset button.’ Suddenly they’re booking trips again, exploring new hobbies, feeling more socially engaged, and experiencing the world with clarity they may not have had in decades. We have patients who tell us they can finally enjoy sunsets, recognize faces clearly, or read while traveling without constantly reaching for glasses. That restoration of independence is life changing.

Q: You often mention that residents shouldn’t have to leave the state for elite eye care. What is one specific advanced technology or surgical solution you’ve brought to Summerlin that most people might not realize is available right in their backyard?

A: One area that surprises people is the level of customization now available in modern cataract surgery. At Precise Sight, we offer advanced premium intraocular lens technology that can address not only cataracts, but also astigmatism and age-related reading vision loss. Many patients still assume cataract surgery simply ‘removes a cloudy lens,’ but today it can also dramatically improve quality of vision and reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses.

Precise Sight has been selected as a leader in the latest lens implant technology, the Light Adjustable Lens. I am the only doctor in Nevada, and one of only four practices to receive an invitation into the ‘elevate’ program by the lens manufacturer because of our experience and top-tier patient outcomes.

Q: Most patients see changes in their vision or eyelids as simply aging. At what point should someone stop managing these symptoms and explore surgical options?

A: People often adapt slowly to vision loss or heavy eyelids without realizing how it’s affecting their quality of life. If someone is struggling with night driving, glare, constantly changing glasses prescriptions, eye fatigue, reduced peripheral vision, or difficulty reading even with glasses, it’s time to have a conversation about options.

The same applies to functional eyelid surgery. Many patients think drooping eyelids are purely cosmetic, but they can significantly block vision, contribute to fatigue, and even cause headaches from constantly raising the eyebrows to compensate. Surgery should be considered when these issues begin interfering with daily life, confidence, safety, or independence.

The good news is that modern surgical techniques are highly refined, recovery is often easier than patients expect, and outcomes can be transformative both visually and functionally.

Q: What is the lasting impact you hope to make in patients’ lives?

A: At Precise Sight, we believe exceptional eye care should be both technologically advanced and deeply personal. Our mission is not simply to perform procedures, but to help patients maintain independence, confidence, and quality of life as they age.
