There are turning points in life that quietly steer us toward our purpose. For Leah Mtegha, founder of The Green Clean Crew, that turning point began in 2011 after the passing of her father. At the time, she was an event planner at the University of Minnesota. When her mom needed extra financial support, Leah started cleaning homes part-time. What began as a way to help her family slowly revealed itself as something more meaningful and aligned with her values.
A Business is Born
In 2015, a friend introduced her to aromatherapy. She was immediately drawn to the science and sensory comfort of plant-based oil blends. And in 2022, she took the leap into entrepreneurship and launched The Green Clean Crew as a full-time business. Tying her passion for aromatherapy to cleaning, she realized that her business could shift away from harsh chemicals toward healthier, eco-friendly products that clean just as thoroughly while being safer for people and pets. It felt like the right step, both personally and professionally.
Today, Green Clean Crew uses green products infused with aroma blends or non-fragranced options for clients who are sensitive to scent. When new clients book their first visit, they complete a short form outlining their preferences: fragrance-free or plant-based with a light, natural aroma. Surprisingly, most clients choose the fragrant option. As Leah puts it, “People still want that fresh, inviting scent after a cleaning, just not the chemical kind.” Clients can even choose the blend used in their home, adding a personalized touch to the entire experience.
A Demand for Residential Cleaning Experiences
While the business originally focused heavily on commercial properties, residential clients have grown significantly over the past few years. And with that shift, Leah has gained an even deeper appreciation for the emotional impact of a tidy home. “I used to take cleaning for granted,” she admits. “I didn’t see it as anything deeper. Now I know it’s not only about the task, it’s about how people feel when we’re done. They breathe easier. They feel lighter. They can invite friends over without stress.”
This sense of calm and order is what Leah considers the heart of her work. Her team uses a method she describes as “speed cleaning,” which trains cleaners to understand their products, follow a set system, and approach each home with care and attention to detail. The goal isn’t to rush. It’s to work with intention and consistency.
What truly separates Green Clean Crew, however, is their presence. “Everyone can clean,” Leah says. “What we bring is an experience.” That experience includes warmth, friendliness, and a no-judgment policy. Clients never need to tidy up before the crew arrives. Instead, the team walks in with positivity, patience, and a focus on supporting the household as it is.
Cleaning is Noble
Leah often recalls a mentor who once told her, “Cleaning is noble.” She carries that thought into every home. A clean space influences more than the physical setting. It steadies the mind, reduces mental strain, and reminds people that they deserve a peaceful environment. The Green Clean Crew shows up not as distant service providers, but as relatable, approachable neighbors who genuinely care about the well-being of each family they serve.
“We’re so much more than a cleaning company,” Leah says. “We’re people who understand life’s ups and downs, and we’re here to help create a home that feels balanced.”
In Eagan and beyond, that message resonates deeply and so does the comfort of a home that feels lighter, healthier, and ready to welcome whatever comes next.
