Color of the Year

Living Coral

As sure as color evokes memories and emotions, experts study the colors that align with our place and times to predict trends for the future. For 20 years, folks at the Pantone Color Institute have combed the world looking at color influences to name their Color of the Year. In 2019, they selected Living Coral described as, “Sociable and spirited, (it) welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity,” according to Pantone. The coral color is vibrant and energizing yet can be precious and elusive like its namesake under the sea. When discovered and added to a home, it provides a lively and vivid presence, a playful expression and a gateway to a kaleidoscope of color. If an aesthetic was translated into the word optimistic, it would look like Living Coral.
