Kindervelt #50 Brightens the World of Children with Friendship & Focus

For the women of local philanthropy group Kindervelt #50, giving back is about more than fundraising—it’s about friendship, community and making a meaningful difference for children and families at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC).

In Greater Cincinnati, Kindervelt—German for “children’s world”—includes about two dozen organizations that join other community-based nonprofits to provide much-needed support to the hospital. Since 1971, Kindervelt and its partners have raised more than $21 million for sixteen divisions within CCHMC. Kindervelt #50, the Indian Hill regional group, is bonded together in a singular purpose: to use their time, skills and talents to support the award-winning work of Cincinnati Children’s to care for children and their families.

“Kindervelt’s impact is both immediate and lasting,” says Natalie Meyer, president of Kindervelt #50. “During the 2025–26 fundraising year, Kindervelt groups collectively raised approximately $776,000 for Cincinnati Children’s, with Kindervelt #50 contributing approximately $190,000.”

That impact reflects the commitment of #50’s members, who organize fundraising events and community activities while building friendships and enjoying the camaraderie that makes the group special.

“Our members bring different experiences, interests and talents to the group, but we’re united by the desire to give back,” Natalie says. “A combination of community effort and focused support is what makes Kindervelt so powerful.”

Natalie has been a member of Kindervelt #50 for seven years and is honored to have served two years on Kindervelt’s board of trustees. Local resident Lauren Abrams serves as Kindervelt #50’s vice president this year.

Kindervelt #50 is now entering the third of a four-year commitment to Cincinnati Children’s Advanced Leukemia Therapies and Research Center. The Research Center is directed by Daniel T. Starczynowski, PhD, who was recently appointed director of Cincinnati Children’s Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology. His work is part of the research and innovation that Kindervelt supporters help make possible.

“Every four years, Kindervelt selects a division within Cincinnati Children’s to support,” Natalie explains. “People sometimes ask why they should give through Kindervelt instead of donating directly to the hospital. Both are meaningful ways to give. A donation through Kindervelt supports the specific division chosen for that four-year commitment, with nearly all of the money raised going toward that work rather than administrative costs.”

Kindervelt #50 is a collective effort, and they are always looking for ways to strengthen and grow.

“We’re always excited to welcome new members, sponsors, community partners and supporters,” says Natalie.

Kindervelt #50 hosts annual signature events that bring the community together for an evening of food, drinks, music and a silent auction. Save the date for “Off to the Races,” the 2027 signature event, to be held Saturday, April 10, 2027, at Kenwood Country Club.

“Events bring people together around something that reaches far beyond our own community,” says Natalie. “Their impact reaches children and families well beyond a single evening.”

Join Kindervelt #50 in its mission for Cincinnati Children’s by attending events, donating auction items or services, sponsoring initiatives and following and sharing the group’s work.

“Whether someone joins Kindervelt, attends an event, becomes a sponsor or simply helps spread the word, there is a place for everyone to be part of what we are doing,” Natalie says.
