Writer-in-Residence Program
Natalie Disney and Heidi Kraay have been named the 2023-2024 Writers-in-Residence by the Boise City Department of Arts & History, in partnership with The Cabin and Boise Public Library. Natalie, an MFA graduate from Boise State University, will hold the residency from October 2023 to March 2024. Heidi Kraay, a versatile playwright and writer, takes over from April 2024 to September 2024. Both writers will organize free public programs across Boise Library branches and the Erma Hayman House. They will receive a $5,000 stipend to support their creative work. This program fosters local talent and community engagement through literature. Boiseartsandhistory.org
2023 Boise Walk for Apraxia
The 2023 Boise Walk for Apraxia, held on September 16, 2023, successfully raised support for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Beginning at 9:30 am with a moving ceremony at 10:00 am, the event, which was free to attend, celebrated the resilience of children with CAS. Activities included family-friendly events and an inclusive group walk, all aimed at increasing awareness. Proceeds from the event benefited Apraxia Kids, an organization focused on empowering children with CAS through education and timely treatment.
