There’s something unmistakably joyful about a beautifully decorated sugar cookie—and no one captures that magic quite like Jaquelyn Rushing, the artist behind Sugar Rush Cookie Co. Known for crisp lines, whimsical touches, and custom creations that feel more couture than confection, Rushing has carved out a niche where style meets sugar.

Her journey began with her son’s first birthday. “The theme was Pocoyo—bright, colorful characters. It sparked so much joy,” she recalls. What began as a labor of love quickly turned into a passion project. By early this year, Sugar Rush Cookie Co. became her full-time career.

Each set begins with a sketch. Jaquelyn gathers inspiration from party themes, invitations, and color palettes to create a cohesive, personalized look. “Sometimes I hand-cut cookies with cardstock templates just to make sure the shapes match my vision,” she explains.

A defining moment came with a Frozen-themed order featuring Elsa, Anna, and Olaf. “That was when I pulled out my paintbrushes and leaned into facial details,” she says. “It was the moment I realized—I could really turn this into something special.”

Whether she’s creating cookies for a bachelorette weekend, a corporate happy hour, or a set for The Brett Boyer Foundation, Jaquelyn approaches each project with intention. “I love character cookies and tiny details. They push me creatively in the best way.”

Her behind-the-scenes process is precise and thoughtful: dough is chilled and baked, colors are mixed and rested, and icing is applied in layers—each cookie drying for hours before it's finished. “Decorating is my favorite part,” she says. “And when I photograph the finished set in natural light, I see more than just cookies—I see memories.”

What makes her work stand out, beyond the polish, is the personal connection. “Every set tells a story,” she says. “Whether it’s a baby shower or a retirement party, I want my cookies to capture that moment—something meaningful and sweet, in every sense.”

Jaquelyn also teaches monthly cookie decorating classes at local favorites like Breeden’s Orchard, The Artful Abode, and The Bonus Room. “It’s such a fun way to connect with the community,” she shares.

At Lebanon City Lifestyle, Sugar Rush Cookie Co. is our go-to for events. Jaquelyn’s cookies are always a highlight—thoughtful, on-theme, delicious and unforgettable.

“I get to do what I love while being home with my husband and two boys,” she says. “Watching them grow while growing this business—it’s the sweetest gift.”
