Bakery Crafting Memories, Community Inspired

The Cookie Element blends family recipes, creativity, and gratitude to delight Yorba Linda’s close-knit community.

Since opening their doors in 2016, The Cookie Element, a family-owned bakery in Yorba Linda, has become much more than a place to satisfy a sweet tooth—it has become a cherished part of the close-knit community. Founded by Yorba Linda residents Mike and Amy Spillane, the bakery was born from a desire to share unique cookie experiences, blending age-old family recipes with modern flavors.

Today, The Cookie Element is a beloved local staple, offering everything from fresh cookies baked daily to specialty sugar cookies, French macarons, ice-cream cookie sandwiches, and seasonal baked delights. Customers can enjoy treats in the shop, through local delivery, or join one of the numerous classes or camps.

At the heart of The Cookie Element is gratitude. “We are incredibly grateful to have our cookies and desserts be part of our customers’ milestone celebrations,” Amy says. “It is truly special knowing our products create memories at birthdays, weddings, baby showers, holidays, and other significant life events.” This dedication to making moments sweeter extends beyond baked goods; it reflects The Cookie Element’s philosophy of nurturing community connection, care, and joy.

The Cookie Element’s commitment to the community has earned recognition, including City Council Business of the Quarter, a testament to the bakery’s role in supporting local businesses and fostering a vibrant, close-knit environment. The Spillane’s consider their customers more than patrons—they are neighbors, friends, and part of their extended family. The bakery is deeply intertwined with the fabric of Yorba Linda, participating in local events, supporting youth programs, and celebrating milestones alongside their neighbors.

Equally important to their success is their incredibly dedicated staff. Mike says, “We could not do what we do without our team. Every member brings passion, care, and creativity to the bakery, ensuring that every cookie, macaron, and dessert is made to perfection and every event is a joyful experience.” The Spillanes’ appreciation for their team mirrors the gratitude they feel toward the community that has supported them from the very beginning.

Giving back is a core value at The Cookie Element. The bakery partners with Goodwill of OC, creating opportunities for employees with disabilities while strengthening the team through valued contributions. Education and youth programs are also a focus. For eight consecutive years, the bakery has supported the Yorba Linda Public Library Summer Reading Program, providing over 5,000 free cookies annually to inspire young readers. They also support youth arts, leadership programs, and sports, from PYLUSD music and theater programs to East Hills Little League and high school athletic teams. Additionally, the bakery has long supported veteran initiatives, participating in local fundraisers like Folds of Honor at Black Gold Golf Club.

Every day, The Cookie Element produces 30 flavors of cookies from scratch, combining time-tested recipes passed down through generations with inventive, modern flavor twists. Their private event space hosts classes, celebrations, camps, and team-building events, while corporate clients trust the bakery for gift-giving and special event desserts. These partnerships extend to some of Orange County’s most recognizable companies, reflecting a reputation for quality, creativity, and reliability.

For Mike and Amy Spillane, the bakery’s success is measured not only in delicious creations but also in connections, memories, and the joy their staff and community bring.

At The Cookie Element, every cookie is more than a treat—it’s a symbol of gratitude, tradition, and celebration, embodying the warmth of a close-knit community and the dedication of a team that truly cares. Visit https://www.thecookieelement.com/
