Corneas to Couture

Where eye care meets Versace walls, designer heat, and A-List vibes

When you walk into Dr. Jay Arora’s Scottsdale office, you’re met with more than just state-of-the-art eye care—you’re stepping into his personal wall of fame.

Photos, memorabilia, and notes of thanks line the space, left by some of the world’s biggest names: Devin Booker. Sean O'Malley. Jeff Hamilton. Kyler Murray. Odell Beckham Jr. The Chainsmokers. These aren’t just patients—they’re friends. People who’ve entrusted Dr. Arora not only with their vision but with their overall well-being.

“I treat every patient the same way I’d treat my mom,” Dr. Arora says. “The same care, the same attention—whether you’re an athlete, a musician, or someone’s next-door neighbor.”

But ophthalmology wasn’t always part of the plan.

After finishing medical school, Dr. Arora wasn’t sure which specialty he wanted to pursue. Searching for clarity, he spent a year volunteering in India.

“I taught at an orphanage and saw firsthand how inaccessible eye care was. Watching someone walk in blind and leave seeing 20/20 the next day—those moments sealed it for me.”

Back in the U.S., Dr. Arora threw himself into ophthalmology, completing his residency and clinical fellowship training in New York City. He joined a large group practice, but when the pandemic hit, he decided to carve out something of his own: Arora Eye, a boutique, concierge-style practice in Scottsdale rooted in precision medicine, personal attention, and elevated experience.

“I saw how impersonal healthcare could be. I wanted to create something more human.”

Today, Arora Eye is known not only for its world-class LASIK and eye care services, but for its highly curated feel. Designer wallpaper. Versace accents. A sneaker wall that includes everything from Off-White to Dior Jordans. But the luxury isn’t just in the décor—it’s in the details.

“I’m obsessive about the small things. Whether it’s the artwork on the wall or the curvature of your cornea—I pay attention.”

That attention to detail has attracted a growing list of high-performing clientele—NBA players, UFC champs, Super Bowl Champs, touring musicians, and more.

“It started organically. One person has a great experience and tells their people. Athletes talk. Musicians talk. Phoenix is smaller than you’d think.”

And the relationships often go far beyond the clinic.

“Sean O’Malley and I hit it off right away—he’s become a good friend. Jeff Hamilton made custom jackets for my wife and me for our wedding. Even Devin Booker’s creative consultant is now one of my most loyal patients. These aren’t just name drops—they’re people I genuinely care about.”

There are surreal moments, too.

“One of Kevin Durant’s closest friends flew in from New York to have me do his LASIK. Afterward, I dropped him off at KD’s place. I remember thinking—how did I end up here?”

And then there was Kobe...

“We lived in the same area and talked about medicine before he passed. That’s a memory I’ll hold onto forever."

When it comes to care, precision is everything. Dr. Arora offers Contoura LASIK, one of the most advanced and personalized forms of laser vision correction available.

“We don’t do cookie-cutter treatments. Everything is tailored. A touring drummer dealing with dry eyes from stage lights? An NFL quarterback who needs razor-sharp peripheral vision? We build around that.”

He’s even developed custom regimens for athletes—from hydration tips to pre-game eye drops. And while Arora Eye offers a full range of services—from routine exams to cataract and glaucoma treatment—it’s the level of attention that sets it apart.

“We scan every layer of the eye: retina, cornea, optic nerve. Even if you feel fine, we may catch early signs of diabetes, stroke, or neurological disease. The eyes tell a much bigger story.”

He’s also vocal about letting go of contacts.

“Don’t sleep in them—ever. And if you’re still relying on them every day, come talk to me about LASIK. It’s freeing.”

Still, he embraces stylish eyewear.

“I’ve helped players from the Giants, Rays and Suns find frames that not only enhance vision but look sharp on and off the field.”

When asked who’s on his dream patient list?

“LeBron James and Drake. Hopefully they’re reading this.”

Outside the office, Dr. Arora is often found courtside with his wife at Suns games, at the driving range next to PGA/LIV Golf icon Jon Rahm, or traveling between Arizona and Los Angeles.

“Really, I’m just here to help people see better.”

In a city full of medical talent, Dr. Arora is building something rare: a clinic that’s modern, personal, and undeniably cool.

“You’ve got one set of eyes. Take care of them. And if you ever need help—I’ve got you.”
