Cracker Candy

'Tis the Season for a Sweet Treat

This family favorite is easy and delicious!

ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 sleeves saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (two sticks)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings: chopped pecans, crushed candy cane, whatever you want!

directions:

Step 1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and arrange saltines in a single layer, salted side up.

Step 2. In a saucepan, melt butter, sugar, and salt over medium heat while stirring. Bring to a boil and cook 1 minute.

Step 3. Pour mixture over crackers and spread evenly.

Step 4. Bake in oven for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, melt chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds.

Step 5. Remove crackers from oven. Spread melted chocolate over them.

Step 6. Add toppings if desired. Cool to room temperature. Refrigerate until chocolate hardens.

Step 7. Peel off foil. Break the cracker candy into pieces. Enjoy!
