Creating a Truly Magical Destination Vacation

Glendale resident and Disney destination specialist Caitlin Nahorski, independent travel agent for The Enchanted Traveler, an authorized Disney vacation planner.

Caitlin grew up going to Disney and now experiences the parks through her children’s eyes. “It’s much more magical now,” said Caitlin. “But as magical as Disney is, it’s difficult to navigate. It breaks my heart to see families become overwhelmed with the planning, or not to plan at all and miss out on a truly magical experience.” Caitlin has some words of wisdom, and we are all ears.

Disneyland or Walt Disney World?

Disneyland has two parks, and Walt Disney World has four parks and two water parks. Both destinations are magical, so it depends on what experience you wish to have. Disney destinations include Walt Disney World, Orlando, Disneyland, Disney Cruises, Aulani Resort in Hawaii, and Adventures by Disney.

How long should we stay?

The length of time isn’t as important as the quality of time spent at Disney. I’ve found that often, everyone in the family is left so exhausted by the end of their trip because they feel like they have to pack everything in while they are there. I always recommend letting yourself have a vacation and building downtime at the resort.

Walt Disney World has unique resorts that offer excellent dining experiences, including character dining, relaxing pools, and resort-specific activities like bike rentals, horseback riding, and movies on the beach.

What is the best age to go?

Disney destinations offer a magical experience for toddlers, teenagers, adults, family reunions, or adult-only groups. Planning is the key to ensuring that everyone has a great vacation.

How far in advance should I book my vacation?

The earlier, the better. 2023 Walt Disney world packages are available now, and booking early ensures the best opportunity to get the exact vacation you envision. Consider hiring an agent that specializes in Disney destinations. Authorized agents should alert you if discounts become available after booking your vacation and adjust your package accordingly.

What goes into the planning process?

Many decisions need to be made beyond which parks to visit and which resort to choose. You must be on your game to secure dining reservations, particularly the coveted character meals, park reservations, Genie +, Lightning Lanes, park hopping, and more. Advanced dining reservations open at 4:45 a.m. central time 60 days before your trip. An agent can help plan every detail for a magical experience—including getting up at 4:30 in the morning to make dining reservations. My goal is for every family to come back smiling from ear to ear.
