“For me, art is a feeling. It’s about depth, dimension; the way colors flow together to create a story that draws you in and begs you to get lost in it for a while,” describes artist Niki Woehler, who recently opened a studio in Scottsdale's Arts District. The gallery serves as a place for Woehler to create, while also displaying her two different types of works: organic, textural canvases and high gloss resins that often resemble stone scattered with minerals.
Her large-scale pieces are popular amongst collectors, corporations, and interior designers.
“Would you think I was crazy if I told you I didn’t really think about COVID-19 when I decided to open my gallery? Maybe because in my mind it’s really an amazing studio with incredible natural light on a great street filled with art and galleries… It just happens to also double as a beautiful gallery,” she says. “What I can tell you is I’ve always been a risk-taker… Nothing great ever happens by playing it safe.”
Woehler adds that she’s excited for the unique Mission Impossible-style flying harness that she’s had installed.
“It allows me to paint enormous canvases that I’ve previously been unable to attempt because I couldn’t reach the middle... I’m also excited about my collaboration with David Adler Fine Rugs, turning one of my most favorite paintings, Silent Partners, into a silk rug, and the line of silk scarves I’m having made in Italy.” NikiWoehler.com
