One foot in Curator and I was hooked. The easy-wear, comfortable, and well-made pieces made this retail experience hunter more satisfied at every slide of the hanger. The denim “bar” alone made me giddy. I tried on different styles and fits in the store and walked out with my new pair, cheerfully knowing I didn't have to send my purchase back like I do almost every time I order something online.
With her mom and her Delta pilot dad, Shelly Brown moved to Fayetteville in 1986. A Fayette County native, Shelly remarked, “I went to everything Fayette. Hood Avenue, Fayette Elementary, Fayette Middle, and Fayette County High.” The glint in her eye as she spoke of Fayette County told me clearly that she loves her community.
Her love for style inspired her degree in fashion design from Bauder College in Atlanta, after which she worked for a digital marketing agency and did makeup at Lenox. She got married, started having children, and in 2010, moved back to Fayette to raise a family.
In 2018, Shelly moved to the Town at Trilith. “This land was my 4th grade teacher’s farm and we used to take field trips here. I remember standing in a field with a brown sack lunch – I may have stood where my living room is!” Shelly always thought, “Someone is going to open a really great [clothing] store here one day. But after thinking about it I felt, ‘Why not me?'”
With her finger on the pulse of style in Atlanta, Shelly felt that there were limited resources on the south side and had friends who had to go to the city to find what they were looking for. Curator focuses on how people dress in Fayette. Shelly carries items based on what she likes and who her customers are. “Getting dressed is something we do every single day. I want my customers to look nice and not have to think about what they are wearing. It should be easy to decide what to wear in the morning.”
Shelly is bringing high-quality, timeless fashion to Fayette, exactly what she set out to do. You can see her looks online at www.curator.shop but why would you when Trilith is a short ride? Do your wardrobe a solid and go.
