CURE Childhood Cancer’s 12th annual Believe Ball

CURE Childhood Cancer’s 12th annual Believe Ball, presented by Delta Air Lines, Novelis and Chicken Salad Chick, was held at The St. Regis Atlanta. Featuring legendary comic Jeff Foxworthy as emcee, the event raised $2.1 million in proceeds benefiting CURE. Since its inception, the black-tie event has raised nearly $15 million to fund targeted research to find a cure for pediatric cancer and to provide crisis-oriented services to families.

A highlight of the Believe Ball was CURE’s presentation of the Ragab Spirit of Hope Award to Dr. Harry W. Findley, Jr. The award is named for Dr. Abdel Ragab — Emory University’s first pediatric oncologist and founder of CURE Childhood Cancer — and honors individuals who exemplify the dedication and commitment to children with cancer that Dr. Ragab embodied. Dr. Findley conducted groundbreaking research with Dr. Ragab and was among the first to discover that acute lymphoblastic leukemia – the most common childhood cancer – is not a single disease, but three distinct subtypes requiring different treatments. This discovery revolutionized the way leukemia is treated and paved the way for targeted therapies that continue saving children today.
