This June, David Deaton Karate Studios will celebrate its golden anniversary in Hendersonville. Founded by 8th degree black belt master instructor David Deaton, the school has trained over 12,000 students in the martial arts since 1970.
David began his journey into the martial arts in 1965 by undertaking the study of Wado Ryu karate. As his skills progressed, David began competing in martial arts tournaments around the world, earning numerous awards and honors for his form and his fighting prowess.
After years of training and competitions, he began his long career of teaching students the physical and mental discipline skills to help them achieve their life goals. David’s dedication to karate education has helped over 2,600 of his students achieve 1st degree black belt status and beyond.
Along with operating his school, David is also committed to giving back to the community. Professionally, he has been involved with and held leadership roles in several martial arts organizations, including U.S. Eastern Wado Ryu Federation, U.S. Martial Arts Centers and Educational Management Systems.
On the local level, is active in several organizations, including the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce, Hendersonville Rotary Club, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the American Cancer Society.
In recognition of the anniversary of his studio, David and his team will be offering two tuition-free summer camps for children during June and July. Each camp will teach five different life skills – basics of self-defense, vital safety tips, how to handle bullies, how to respond when parents aren’t around and what to do when confronted by strangers.
David and his team wish to express their gratitude to their students and the citizens of Hendersonville for their continued support over the past 50 years.
