Dear Kang Community

A back to school message from principal of Lake Washington High School, Dr. Christine Bell.

As we embark on the 2024-25 school year, my fourth year as the principal and lead learner of Lake Washington High School, I am excited for the journey ahead. It is an honor to continue serving our vibrant community, and I look forward to another remarkable year together.

Over the past three years, Lake Washington High School has demonstrated resilience and dedication, rebounding from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, our focus was on ensuring health, safety, and a return to normalcy. By the second year, our staff, in collaboration with the community, expanded opportunities beyond the classroom, including athletics, club activities, and academic showcases. The unprecedented levels of student participation and their newfound enthusiasm for engaging with peers were truly inspiring, marking significant successes for our school.

In my third year, we turned our attention back to academic rigor. Student enrollment in Advanced Placement and College in the High School courses soared, prompting the introduction of new course offerings and increasing opportunities for earning college credit. Our students excelled across the board, a testament to the dedication and excellence of our teaching staff.

As I step into my fourth year at Lake Washington High School, I am particularly excited to emphasize professional learning for our staff. With our students' growing ambitions and our increasingly diverse community, it is more important than ever to address the needs of individual learners. We remain committed to maintaining a safe environment for both students and staff, ensuring that everyone feels connected and belongs within our community.

Keeping up with the numerous accomplishments and celebrations at Lake Washington High School is a rewarding endeavor. Our mission remains focused on "Each Child, Every Day, Connected and Belonging in our Community." Our dedication to "Always Rising" drives us to continuously improve and enhance the already outstanding opportunities and high outcomes for each student.

Warm regards,

Dr. Christine Bell
