You may have never considered paying someone else to organize your home or office, and while it seems like a luxury service, it’s actually one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Celsie Sneden, the owner of NEAT Method Kansas City, talked with us about the bigger benefits her customers experience that really make her job rewarding.

“It’s amazing how heavy the mental weight of our tangible clutter can be,” says Sneden. “Your mind knows there is a mountain of things to do and that weighs on you day in and day out. Simply put, mess equals stress.”

Originally from Topeka, Sneden moved to Chicago with a theater degree. There, she met a friend who worked on the NEAT Method Chicago team. “I was so excited to learn that you could make a living organizing,” Sneden said enthusiastically. “I couldn’t think about anything else!” Now, Sneden runs NEAT Method Kansas City.

Sneden broke down her job into five main categories:

  1. One-on-one paper filing - see, you’re not the only one with a mountain of paper.

  2. Space organizing - including closets, pantries, garages, corporate offices, storage units, and more.

  3. Space planning - working with contractors and builders to plan spaces with a specific storage plan in mind before construction begins.

  4. Moves and relocations - from unpacking to managing the entire move (hiring movers and packers).

  5. Virtual Services - NEAT It Now allows for virtual organizing help with step-by-step instructions and a personalized shopping list.

Sneden says old habits are the biggest hurdle people have when it comes to staying organized. “The beautiful thing about NEAT Method is that we not only organize, but we implement maintainable systems. Using the system really helps teach you how to stay organized. It takes people a week or so to get used to the new system and then they’re absolutely thrilled! Once you’re organized, it’s impossible to imagine being unorganized again.”

Celsie’s Top 3 Organizational Tips

  1. Give yourself enough time (and grace) for projects. Otherwise, you end up with a bigger mess than you started with.

  2. Give everything a home (and don’t fill that home with other things when that item is not there).

  3. Label everything! It seems like overkill at first, but it helps keep things organized and breaks bad habits.

Life gets hectic and whether it is the day-to-day challenge of maintaining an organized home or the stress of a big life event, NEAT Method provides customized solutions that bring comfort, efficiency, and function that last for years.
