Del Mar, California: The Ideal Beach Destination

Once you’ve visited Del Mar, California, you understand why the oceanside village’s name means “of the sea.” The Southern California town just 22 miles north of San Diego along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean offers a unique small-town atmosphere known for its beaches, natural landscape and breathtaking ocean views.

As you drive up to the quaint A-frame house, you can smell the salt wafting in the cool breeze. The house, just steps from the Del Mar beach, features three bedrooms and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything needed to cook your own meals. The living room—with doors that lead straight out to the deck—is cozy, and the back porch—where you can smell the salt and hear the waves—is a great spot to soak up the ocean air.

Each day, you can pack a wagon with a cooler, beach chairs, an umbrella and towels and walk down the seaside hill to enjoy the warm sand and crashing waves for the rest of the day. The neighborhood is pristine and children will love to stop and smell the flowers along a daily stroll.

Within walking distance of food and activities in the historic Del Mar Village, you'll find local shops, cafes, live music and exceptional ocean-view dining, making this a great spot for anyone looking for a getaway with style and charm. If you want to venture a little further out, you’re just a short trip up the coast from San Diego attractions like Seaworld and the world-famous San Diego Zoo and Safari Park.

If what you’re looking for is the unique and quaint atmosphere of a historic beach town immersed in Southern California culture, Del Mar is the place to be.
