Newtown Dentistry is celebrating 26 years in business, and founder Dr. Christine Landes says she still believes “Every day is a good day to smile" -- in fact, she encourages it.
When this board-certified pediatric dentist opened her doors in 1996, she says it was her mission to cater to the needs of children by creating a “Dental Home," or a safe space where comfort and security replaces fear.
In the early years, Dr. Chris became known as 'the purple dentist' because she encouraged her young patients to wear purple to appointments in exchange for surprises and added fun. Ultimately her goal was, and still is, for her patients to feel relaxed and at ease in a homelike ambiance. In fact, grand measures have been taken to create cheerful, themed spaces that many refer to as a mini Disney World. The reception area resembles that of a rustic lodge, while examining rooms take on a lake-side and wintery ski-inspired vacation vibe. However, the big wow factor is the waiting room treehouse where kids look forward to playing while awaiting their appointment.
As Dr. Chris’ young patients grew, Newtown Dentistry grew along with them.
Recognizing that extracurricular activities and homework consume a large portion of a teen’s day, in 2006, Newtown Dentistry incorporated Orthodontics to the practice. "Having the convenience of being able to combine both dental and orthodontic appointments into one office visit was a game changer for both patients and parents alike," says Dr. Chris, who didn't stop there, however.
In 2014, Adult Dentistry was implemented into the practice, and in the fall of 2021, a designated adult treatment area was established. This adult-only, "vacation home" space was created to transport patients to a land of relaxation and serenity, shares Dr. Chris.
"It was at that point I realized that my dream to provide full service dentistry and orthodontics to children and adults had become a reality. It’s like when you see your children become independent and thriving. It’s a feeling of satisfaction and pride,” she explains.
In addition to physical and aesthetic growth, the Newtown Dentistry team prides themselves on offering patients the most state-of-the-art treatments available in the field. Patients enjoy professional care with access to services, such as same-day crowns, the SOPROLIFE camera for early cavity detection, intraoral 3D Panorex imaging, the LightScalpel C02 Laser for lip and tongue tie release and Silver Diamine Fluoride treatments for cavities.

She's spent the past nearly three decades dedicated to the well-being of her loyal patients, whom she and her team consider family, she says. "The people make the practice,” she adds. "We look forward to serving the community for many years to come."
Dr. Chris says she's confident that the team's dental services will continue on the level and trajectory of the same excellence and care. As another patient service, Newtown Dentistry patients can set up in-house dental savings plans, if desired. "We are all one big family'' is their motto.
