While the modern world often worships surface gloss, Sherry Millien is building sanctuaries.
From The Woodlands to the Texas Hill Country, her firm, Terravista Interior Design Group, discreetly defines a more grounded version of luxury. Known for one-of-a-kind interiors that reflect not only a client’s aesthetic but their values, Sherry brings a deeply personal touch to every home she enters. A mother, an artist, and a woman of deep faith, she speaks with the kind of clarity that feels rare in today’s world. We were fortunate to sit down with Sherry to talk about what makes a home truly beautiful—and how her journey continues to shape the future of Terravista Interior Design Group.
Q: Terravista has a distinct identity—how did it all begin?
A: In 2002, I opened my first firm and a retail space in Indian Springs. But in 2008, I felt God calling me to step away and advocate full-time for my daughter, who has Down syndrome. In 2017, I returned—this time, with a new purpose. Terravista loosely translates to “beautiful view,” and I like to believe that’s what God sees when He looks down on the way we serve others through our work.
Q: What does “one-of-a-kind” mean in your world?
A: To me, it means honoring who each client truly is. I spend time understanding how they live, what they value, and how they want to feel at home. That emotional connection is where design begins. A house becomes a home when it reflects their story—beautifully and authentically.
Q: Can you share a project that’s stayed with you?
A: A primary suite redesign for a woman in a season of personal loss. Her home held deep emotional ties to her late husband, and we were tasked with turning it into a space that felt like her sanctuary. The challenge was working within the existing footprint while bringing peace, light, and life into the space. It wasn’t just design—it was healing.
Q: How do you balance luxury and spiritual grounding?
A: Luxury, to me, is how a space cares for you. Many of our clients are caregivers, high achievers, and givers. I understand that life because I’ve lived it. So our goal is to design homes that restore. My faith guides me to create spaces that feel like grace—safe, beautiful, and deeply supportive.
Q: You’re expanding—how do you maintain that personalized feel?
A: We’ve built a structured yet flexible process that allows each client to feel fully seen. Whether they’re in Houston or beyond, we’ve refined how we communicate, gather insights, and manage every detail to ensure the experience remains intimate and seamless.
Q: What advice would you give to someone entering luxury design for the first time?
A: Start with function. Stay true to yourself. Forget trends. Invest in what you love and create a space that gives back to you every day. That’s timeless design—and that’s what we’re here to help you build.
Whether redesigning a quiet retreat or curating a full-scale estate, Sherry Millien brings soul to every surface. Design isn’t just about beauty—it’s about purpose, peace, and the quiet luxury of coming home to yourself.
