One of the most important meals of the year is just around the corner. You know – the one with the turkey. Maybe you’re already planning the menu and stocking up on spices and cans of pumpkin, but just as important is preparing the space where you and your family will sit and enjoy it together.

O.P. Jenkins Furniture & Design opened in 1907 in Knoxville, Tennessee and is one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the state. Since opening a design boutique expansion in Franklin in 2016, their design teams have been serving the Middle Tennessee area with the same quality that has kept the business thriving for 115 years.

Jessica Wilkerson, lead designer, describes the dining room pictured in this article as “new traditional.” “We like very clean lines with fun, bold patterns and lots of details,” said Jessica. Timelessness is a key factor in the work of the O.P. Jenkins design team. The goal is to be able to look at a room and not exactly know what year it was designed. In this particular project, the wallpaper is a floral pattern that has retained its stylishness all the way from the 1960s to today. The dining room table is a traditional family piece that was passed down and refinished. The beautiful dining room chairs are custom designed by the O.P. Jenkins team. The final touch is a bold lighting fixture that Jessica calls the “jewelry” of the room – the fun, unexpected piece.

Another focus is not only creating beautiful spaces but creating beautiful spaces that are livable. With a variety of easy-to-clean performance fabrics available today, you can have an everyday dining area that feels as thought-out and design-forward as a room that you may seldom use. That means you can be more at ease this year as you pass the gravy. “It’s come so far that dining rooms have become a lot of fun for people they didn’t use to be fun for,” said Jessica.

O.P. Jenkins is a one-stop shop. From lighting to wallpaper, from furniture to rugs, whether you want to create a formal dining room or a beautiful family space, they have everything you need. With over 400 vendors from whom they purchase including domestically-made upholstery and a showroom stocked and ready to sell, O.P. Jenkins has the ability to give you what you want in the time frame that you desire. Got an idea today? You could be sitting in it this holiday season.
