In 2017, Shauna McCoy decided to leave her corporate sales career of 20-plus years and travel around Tennessee in a blue food truck to sell her charming, gourmet mini doughnuts. By 2019, she selected a permanent retail location as 'delightfulness central' in East Nashville at 311 Gallatin Ave.

Deemed the Donut Distillery, Shauna and her husband, Todd, provide high-quality services, including various doughnut toppings, coffee, local craft beer, doughnut shots, mimosa/coffee/beer flights and spiked doughnut milkshakes. She says their funky, down-to-earth atmosphere is just part of the fun.

"Our goal is to give people an experience each time they visit us, proving that there really are so 'mini' reasons to smile," she quips. (To that end, she's been known to host comedy shows, art markets and live music on weekends.)

The McCoys' select menu also can be secured at Assembly Food Hall, 5055 Broadway Place. Ask about their doughnut of the week.

For special occasions, the Donut Distillery offers a Bachelorette Package, an Adult Party Package, and the Kids Party Package. Or, customers can rent out the Donut Distillery to make their events easy and fun. For example, children's parties on-site include donuts with create-your-own doughnut activities, plus decorations, plates and cups.

Shauna says their new coffee cocktails and flights are becoming increasingly popular. Paired with pre-selected doughnuts, consumers can get coffee with new twists deriving from such combinations as Tennessee whiskey, coconut rum or peanut butter whiskey and chocolate.

"We invite everyone to come experience the different ambiance of East Nashville with us. You can be there in 20 minutes," says Shauna, a former Brentwood/now Nolensville resident.

Holiday-themed donuts and packs always are on deck at Donut Distillery, so keep a lookout next for Halloween-themed olykoeks.

"With fall time coming up, remember that we have outdoor seating. So you can sit out and enjoy autumn weather while getting your fill of pumpkin-inspired doughnuts and beverages. One thing that will never let you down is donuts," Shauna reminds.
