Flowers are more than a gift—they’re a reflection of life’s most meaningful moments. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or “just because” gesture, Bloom and Leaf is the destination for all your floral needs.
Founder and Chief Floral Artist Celia Malkemus ensures every arrangement is as special as the occasion. But when it comes to weddings, her expertise truly shines. With a consultation rooted in her two favorite words—style and feel—she works closely with couples to elevate their florals.
“My favorite thing is the thematic weddings because we get to sit down, watch the movie, and really embrace that theme while creating,” says Malkemus. “We got to do a Hobbiton wedding last year, so we utilized woodsy things you would see in The Hobbit. The bridesmaids carried lanterns filled with fairy lights instead of regular bouquets, and we wrapped them with ivy. We even did a full greenery flower crown for the bride.”
Other themed events Malkemus has especially loved were a Final Fantasy XIV wedding using a moogle as a bouquet, and an Alice in Wonderland quinceañera complete with teapot centerpieces.
She also offers wedding management services, stepping in six to eight weeks prior to the big day to handle vendor coordination and timelines. Her goal is to eliminate the bride and groom’s stress, even if that means picking up a call during a hockey game to discuss issues with tables or tackling a last-minute switch in venues.
“No matter if it’s just florals or wedding management, whenever there is a problem, we figure out a way to solve it,” says Malkemus. “It’s very rewarding to be there and move through the hiccups.”
Bloom and Leaf remains a cut above because of Malkemus’s commitment to excellence. Every month, she takes a class called My Design Coach with Jackie Lacey, winner of the prestigious Sylvia Cup—aka the top national award for floral designers.
“I keep learning. There’s never a time when I think, ‘I’ve arrived,’” says Malkemus. “I’ve got quite a wide array of experts in my corner to help me become a better expert.”
