Dreams DO Come True

Passion and Hard Work Pay Off for Young Entrepreneur

Since she was five years old, Brittany Kennedy dreamed of being a veterinarian. That dream has been fulfilled with the recent purchase of Pet Health Center, at 4045 North St Peters Parkway, from a retiring veterinarian.

Dr. Kennedy, of Cottleville, has been a practicing veterinarian for four years, and is experienced in preventative medicine, internal medicine, surgery, emergency cases, dentistry, pain management and quality of life consultation. When the opportunity to own a clinic so close to where she grew up arose, she knew it was the perfect location to start her business.

She attended The University of Missouri-Columbia Business School and School of Veterinary Medicine, with an ultimate goal to own a clinic where clients are treated like family, and long-lasting relationships are formed. She wants to be a valued and trusted resource for her clients, providing the best possible care for pets and their owners. Her enthusiasm and passion are truly inspiring.

Her best advice for those interested in being a veterinarian is to start job shadowing. “Find a good vet that you can spend some time with,” she says. “I started when I was 15...just shadowing; seeing if I liked it and getting a better idea of it.”

Dr. Kennedy has proven to be a leader in her profession. She was selected to the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association’s Power of 10 (a group of 10 veterinarians in the State of Missouri identified as leaders in the industry). She is currently chairman of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association New Graduate Forum which provides guidance to new graduate veterinarians.

Pet Health Center offers vaccinations, preventative care exams, dental exams, x-rays, general surgery, lab tests, heart worm & parasite testing and microchipping.

In addition to in-office services, Dr. Kennedy offers home visits for the convenience of pets and their owners. Home visits can minimize the stress of driving to a clinic and can provide care for patients who are not physically able to travel.

During the months of July and August, first time examinations are free for new clients.

Dr. Kennedy's husband, Chris, is a veterinarian as well. Their goal is to have him join the practice in the near future. They currently reside in Cottleville with their “fur babies,” including a golden retriever, a husky and two orange tabby cats.
