As one of ten children, Julie Herrera understood the value of hard work early on. Juggling college with grants and jobs, she reached a breaking point one summer and took up a position at a San Antonio car dealership. There, everything clicked.
Herrera was hooked by the dynamics of retail sales, where effort directly translated to reward. She dove in, eager to learn everything she could about the industry and how to improve the car-buying experience, with a goal of becoming an owner. A key influence on her journey was her father, who had been in the automotive business for over 40 years.
“He was such a faithful and honest man, and he taught me so many lessons,” says Herrera. “One was making sure that every business transaction was fair to the customer, fair to the sales associate, and fair to the dealership. He advised me to keep this in mind every time I had to make a business decision.”
Her grit paid off with IDEA Auto Group—now home to Toyota of Cedar Park, City Limits Subaru, and City Limits Nissan—which was founded with the mission to positively impact its community. Observing the incredible work of local nonprofits, Herrera and her team carefully chose where they could make the greatest difference.
They unanimously decided to focus their efforts on uplifting children, particularly those aging out of foster care and in need of a safe space or educational support. Herrera believes that making our town a stronger, healthier place is simply the right thing to do.
“We have such a well-rounded and talented group of leaders in our organization. They are the carriers of the culture and have just exceeded all my expectations,” says Herrera. “I couldn’t be more proud of this team!”
