Dugout Bar and Grill - Smoked Ribs

Owner John "Bubba" Holdren Shares his favorite

A fun and easy way to Smoke Ribs at home- brought to us by John “Bubba” Holdren- owner of the Dugout Bar and Grill – 2509 11th Ave, Greeley, serving some of the best Bar-b-que in town!

  • Prepare Ribs by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs

  • Trim off access fat

  • Rinse with cold water and wipe with paper towel

  • Run generously with favorite dry rub – *

  • Smoke for three hours – meat side up at 180 degrees

  • Spray ribs with 50/50 mixture of apple juice and apple cider vinegar

  • Foil ribs tightly and cook an additional two hours at 225 degrees

  • Carefully remove foils from ribs and lather with your favorite B-b-que sauce

  • Put ribs back on smoker for 30-60 minutes until sauce tightens

  • Let sit for 20 minutes before cutting

  • Recommended pellets are mixture of apple, hickory and pecan

* Dugout’s favorite rub consist of: paprika, cumin, celery salt, ground black pepper, dark brown sugar, salt, ground oregano, cayenne pepper, ground lemon zest, and dry mustard
