Tell us a little about yourself and your inspiration.
I am a wife, a mom of three children, and the creator behind @homewithmaleah on Instagram. After spending 13 years as a photographer, I moved to St. George and poured all of my creativity into transforming our basic builder-grade home. I have always loved decorating, design, and DIY, but having a very frugal husband has taught me how to create high-end spaces without the high-end budget. Today, I love to share affordable finds, simple projects, and decorating ideas to help wives and moms create homes they truly love living in. My ultimate goal is simple: to show that beautiful, custom-looking and custom-feeling homes are possible for everyone and here’s how anyone can do it!
What brought you to beautiful St. George?
We were drawn here by the sunshine, warm weather, and slower pace of life. Growing up in California, St. George reminded me of home. We really wanted more time outside together as a family and a community that felt welcoming. It has been the perfect place to put down roots.
How can we create our perfect, organized home?
I don’t believe anyone actually has a perfectly organized home, especially if you have kids! Instead, let's focus on creating systems that work for your family. I love using baskets, bins, cabinets, and hidden storage so everything has a place while still looking beautiful. Organization should make life easier, not make your home feel like a museum.
What things can we do to make our homes look more customized?
The easiest upgrades are often the most affordable. Paint adds instant character, while new lighting, mirrors, faucets, and cabinet hardware make builder-grade homes feel much more custom. I also love designing each room around the person who uses it, so every space feels intentional and very personal.
Where can we shop for special items that enhance our style?
I love mixing affordable items from retailers like Target, Walmart, Amazon, H&M Home, Zara Home, HomeGoods, and Hobby Lobby with fun and unique vintage finds. The best homes combine old and new pieces to create a collected look that’s personal instead of trendy or common.
What is your best life hack?
Don’t wait for your dream home, create it right where you are. Small changes like paint, wallpaper, lighting, styling and simple DIY projects can completely transform how your home feels without a major renovation.
What are some simple swaps we can make?
My favorite budget-friendly upgrade right now is framing builder-grade mirrors with peel-and-stick molding. It gives the mirror a custom look for a fraction of the cost. I also love changing cabinet hardware and replacing recessed lights with pendants or flush mounts. Those three projects make a huge impact while staying affordable.
