Eliana - Glastonbury Has a New Day Spa

The new business will include an innovative "Float Center"

Imagine floating weightless in space, with nothing but the stars surrounding you, but plenty of air to breathe. Or maybe you’re just in a dark place with soothing music, floating weightless and carefree.

That’s what you can experience at Glastonbury’s newest day spa, Eliana, at 136 New London Turnpike.

Owners Heather Perra and Katie Kiss, dual licensed massage therapists and estheticians with nearly 40 years of combined experience between them, opened the new spa in July. It represents a significant expansion for the two women, who are also cousins.

They also own the Del Soul Spa in Newington, which they opened in 2017. Known for its premier  services, which include a glass of champagne or mimosa with your treatment, the business grew so quickly they decided to open a second location.

“The business was doing so well we decided to undertake an expansion. This is really our luxury spin on our original spa,” says Katie.

Eliana is in a 4,200-square-foot building at the corner of New London Turnpike and Rankin Road.

The spa offers some of the same treatments as the original space in Newington and more, including luxury skincare lines and new spins on existing treatments. It also features two relaxation rooms (one equipped for spa day parties), seven treatment rooms, a reception room and a small shopping area. Eliana will additionally offer luxury skincare lines, and new spins on existing treatments.

One of the keystones of the new spa, however, is that it includes a “float center.”

“The biggest feature is we’ve become a float center,” Heather says. “The proper term for it is a sensory deprivation tank and they’re becoming very popular. We’ll be the first one in Glastonbury.”

"It contains approximately one foot of hypersalinated water, heated to body temperature," Katie adds. "The epsom salt water allows you to float essentially weightless for 60 minute or 90 minute durations, relaxed completely surrounded in water that is not too hot, and not too cold. This provides a whole new level of relaxation for both the body and mind, that is unique to floating.

“You come out feeling completely relaxed and like you’ve had a 90-minute massage,” Heather says.

Another unique service will include the spa’s signature Steamy Wonder, a 30-minute table treatment where clients can enjoy the effect of a 30-minute steam room while lying on a table.

Other services include facials, massages and hydra facials.

The new facility is large enough, Katie says, that Eliana will also rent out space for parties and events, such as bridal showers, girls’ spa days or birthdays, and will offer catering services on the premises.

“You’ll have an entire floor to yourself for your party,” Heather says.
