Co-Owners Share How They Help Clients Find Their Fire

Heather Heatherly and Kelly Hutt, co-owners of Ember Movement Studio, have combined experience in pole fitness, strength training, and yoga that led them to start Ember Movement Studio—a place where all of those styles of fitness and more are in one place. Their decision to offer so many workout styles was very intentional. “Previously, we were going to different studios to be able to do what we wanted to do movement-wise for our personal fitness,” Heather explains. “So, one of our core values is to be a multi-method fitness facility that has everything under one roof. We believe in the value of the various modalities we offer and the value of cross-training.”

Kelly and Heather have seen the impact on cross-training in their own health journeys and wanted to provide that for their members. “I have been in pole fitness for about eight years and done strength training and yoga for a number of years as well,” Kelly shares. “Getting to combine those and provide opportunities for other people with cross-training in a space where they can see the value of so many different things is really awesome.” Heather also enjoys the opportunity to incorporate different styles of fitness into her own routine and thus the classes she prepares for the studio. “While yoga has been my passion,” Heather says, “I found that I was incorporating more and more movement modalities into my own personal life and physical practice.”

Having so many workout styles gives their clients the opportunity to find the fitness modality that brings the most joy. “Our tagline is ‘find your fire’ because we want people to find the style that really lights them up,” Kelly says. With their wide range of workout styles—including yoga, strength training, silks, hammock, lyra, and pole—there is a workout for everyone. They also offer kids classes twice a week, and their studio is open to all ages—men and women alike. Additionally, Ember Movement has a permanent new client special where they offer two weeks of classes for $30 so that anyone interested can come, try out all Ember Movement has to offer, and find their fire.

Kelly and Heather also make sure they offer classes for various skill levels, keeping their workouts hard but accessible. “We have modalities that are lower impact, a flexibility class, and different styles of yoga,” Kelly shares. “We want to make sure that we’re not just doing high impact with everything.” They also hope to introduce people to styles of workout that they may not have tried on their own. “One of our number one things is community, and we want to expose people to styles of training they would not have thought about trying,” Kelly says. “It was the community that brought us here and keeps us going, so seeing our clients and instructors try new things and feel their own success is so rewarding.”
