Happy places. So many people describe sunrooms in that manner.
Darryl and Linde Myers agree. As second-generation owners of the company, Mr. Enclosure, they've witnessed how much happiness new sunrooms and outdoor living spaces prompt.
Since 1962, Mr. Enclosure has been designing, manufacturing and installing all-season sunrooms, three-season rooms, screen rooms, louvered roof systems and outside kitchens or outdoor living spaces -- making backyard dreams come true. Their products are custom-designed to fit the desires, budget and lifestyle of clients.
"My father, Jim Myers, started in the business in 1955, and expanded it to include sunrooms and screened-in rooms in 1962," shares Darryl. "For my family, it's been an extreme pleasure to work around each other. I was fortunate enough to not only work with my father for 25 years, but also my father-in-law for 25 years. My wife, daughter and nephew have all been part of the business from 1997 on."
Carrying on the family legacy was important to the Myers after patriarch Jim retired in 1989. Through concerted advertising efforts, Darryl says they tripled their business volume in the following two years.
Darryl says because many people weren't able to go to their work sites or travel this year due to COVID-19, circumstances brought a different perspective to home family values and stay-cations. "More people than not are fully enjoying the home quarantine. However, they need a little bit more living space. So, they have decided to improve their homes and expand their outdoor living areas," he says.
Outdoor pavilions with kitchens really skyrocketed this year, says Jerry Vanis, Mr. Enclosure manufacturing coordinator.
"Our No. 1 seller has been the Equinox Louvered Roof System, an operable pergola that opens and closes, with the touch of a remote, to control the sunlight or shade. It's waterproof when closed," says Stacey Benson, Mr. Enclosure sales team manager.
Sunrooms are kept warm in winter months by installing mini split heating and cooling systems, allowing homeowners to use their rooms all year long.
For blending and harmonizing sunrooms with existing residences, Jeff Grammer, Mr. Enclosure production manager, says their design team provides 3D renderings so homeowners can see in advance what their choices will look like. Any expansions are tied into the existing home with matching architecture style and materials.
Darryl says they've partnered with Progressive Screens Magna Track Systems, a leading manufacturer of motorized screening solutions for patios, garages, windows, lanais, gazebos, restaurants and outdoor eating areas. He says as that company's premier distributor, they're able to offer residential and commercial screening systems.
The patented Magna Track is the only motorized screen that can provide complete hassle free operation guaranteed, Darryl says. "They're also hurricane rated. Not only can we do screening options, we also provide clear vinyl windows that retract on a rolling system to eliminate wind, rain and cold weather. This has been a wowzer for our company," he adds.
"We take great pride in the construction, completion and the finished product. It's always a great and overwhelming feeling when a homeowner comes to us and actually hugs, and is emotional over the end result. I want the homeowner's final product to be exactly what they envisioned," admits Darryl.
