Inspired Fall Culinary Kitchen Inspirations

Fine Kitchenware, Cooking Accessories, and Recipes Galore!

This is definitely a month of seasonal change, from a magnificent array of autumn hues to cooler weather-themed recipes. We visited one of our own stores at Market Street to get some ideas on how to help us prep our kitchens for the upcoming holidays, starting with festivities in October and trending well beyond.

The Lid & Ladle Blog

“Gone are the days of one formal way to gather. This season, make every tradition your own and personalize gatherings to fit individual lifestyles,” says Meredith Abbott, Sur La Table Culinary Director and Chef. “Cozy and familiar — this trend is built on old family recipes shared by loved ones, or try developing a new traditional recipe that gives you warm fuzzy feelings. In the kitchen, turn mainly to ovens and slow cookers, inviting people around your table with delicious aromas as well as complex flavors.”

Look no further for the Lid & Ladle blog, which launched in September 2022. This is the ultimate click-around resource for robust inspiration and helpful know-how throughout the fall season. Sorted by categories, you’ll find “Tips & tricks,” "Product Guide,” “Mains,” “Bakes,” and “Entertaining” to navigate the best and most flavorful takeaways.

For instance, if you’re hosting friends, family, or even a baby or bridal shower, articles such as “Brunch Made Easy” highlight a fun waffle bar party—all found under a diverse listing of Tips and Tricks.

You may be interested in how to clean and care for your stainless steel cookware or how to sharpen knives at home. For deeper educational dives into products and product care, a quick click on the Product Guide tab takes you to practical topics ranging from anodized aluminum nonstick cookware to stainless steel vs. nonstick to the material differences in glass, cast iron, and stoneware. Take a look at the Ultimate Guide to Cookware Materials as well!

Videos

Sometimes it’s helpful to view a tutorial in addition to reading about culinary topics. "On The Table” videos certainly run the gamut! For instance, these engaging reels teach cooks of all calibers about cutting corn off the cob, making fresh homemade pasta, breaking down a whole chicken, and how to make pie dough—just to name a few!

Recipes

You can also check out recipes that are timely, tasty, and full of wonderful ingredients. There is nothing better than sumptuous dishes (and cocktails too) for this time of year. We recommend:

In-Store Resources

Sur La Table has great in-store resources for busy shoppers who want to make the most of each visit. Have you tried the Chop Shop prep station with produce? Customers can slice, mince, chop, and julienne to their heart's content.

The “Stay Sharp” knife sharpening service is handy when you don’t have the time or wherewithal to sharpen on your own (no scissors or serrated knives).

With the “Get Plugged In” service, staff will open any electric appliance box and show customers how to use it—hugely helpful when it comes to new and unfamiliar products.
