Enpower, Encourage and Equip

Fitness that brings confidence to all areas of life.

It’s easy to see why women of all ages show up excited for a group fitness class led by Angie Thomson. Angie  is the founder of Thomson Team Training in Overland Park, also known as TTT. Her life’s passion is empowering women through fitness while also incorporating the word of God.

She said the mission statement of her business says it all:

“We strive to empower, encourage and equip you to feel confident in all areas of your life,” Angie says.

While Angie says physical transformation of working out is a plus, her classes are also about nurturing the mind, body and spirit.

Angie and the other trainers at TTT, Tara Hale, Chrissy Bailey and Jana Goolsby, specialize in high-energy, circuit and personal group training classes for women of all ages and skill levels. She and her team work to create a welcoming environment, and they understand some women may feel nervous or intimidated at first.

“I think our community has truly been amazing since day one at just encouraging girls and welcoming them in and saying ‘girl I know you haven’t worked out in 10 years or maybe you haven’t worked out in your life, but it’s OK, I’m going to show you how and I’m going to work through this with you,’” she says.

Angie always loves speaking with women after their first class and hearing how welcome they felt and how much fun they had during the workout.

“I think sometimes we connect a really hard, intense workout as being terrible, and it’s not the case—girls want to be challenged,” Angie says.

Her hope is that by combining fitness and faith in a positive environment, she can help women reach their full potential in life.

“Once they feel confident in themselves and they know who God has made them to be and the gift that God’s given them it’s so easy to not compare and to not compete, it’s just so easy to try to be me,” Angie says.

Angie’s love for helping others on their fitness journey began when she was a college student at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She remembers sitting on her dorm room bed asking God what career she should choose.

“I will never forget that moment, He said, ‘I want you to learn how I created your body, and how it’s designed, and then I want you to be able to teach other women how to take care of their bodies,’” Angie says.

As a lifelong athlete, Angie knew the physical and mental benefits that come along with health and fitness and was excited to share her knowledge with others. She majored in exercise physiology and became a personal trainer after graduating. After spending 14 years working as a personal trainer, she felt a calling from God to start her own business.

She said her favorite part of the job is never ending, but if she could pick one it would be watching women be able to do things in the gym and outside of the gym that they didn’t think they could.

“Watching them have this inner confidence of ‘oh my gosh, I didn’t think I could do that, and I just did it!’” Angie says. “It’s like, ‘yes you can and you just did!’”

With the start of the new year, Angie wants to encourage everyone who has fitness as a goal to schedule an appointment with themselves to do some type of physical activity consistently. It can be as simple as a walk.

“That will become a part of your weekly routine, and then once you see how great you feel just by making that small change it is motivating,” Angie says.
