We spoke with Marysol Imler, owner of Solymar Med Spa, about her passion for aesthetics and client connections. As a nurse and aesthetician, she believes in high quality treatments, personalized plans, and education. Most importantly, she guides her clients to feel truly empowered and confident in who they are.
Tell us a little bit about why you began a career in aesthetics, and what made you decide to open Solymar Med Spa.
I began my nursing career nearly 20 years ago as a trauma nurse. From the very start, I was fascinated by the body’s ability to heal and recover. That curiosity only deepened over the years and eventually led me into the world of aesthetics.
Aesthetics allowed me to combine my clinical knowledge with creativity. I fell in love with the transformations I was able to create, the meaningful relationships I formed, and most importantly, the way these treatments made my clients feel.
In October 2023, I turned my passion into a business and opened Solymar Med Spa as a part-time venture. The San Antonio community (especially here in Stone Oak) has been incredibly supportive, and the business grew quickly. Encouraged by this growth, I made the decision earlier this year to retire from a successful healthcare leadership career and fully dedicate myself to growing Solymar Med Spa into something truly special.
How do your favorite treatments work and why do you love them?
My three favorite treatments are Neuromodulators (we offer Jeuveau, Dysport, and Letybo), Microneedling, and EZ Gel. Individually, each one delivers incredible benefits for rejuvenating and revitalizing the skin. But when these treatments are combined, they become a true powerhouse, working synergistically to tighten, plump, and brighten the face in the most natural, effective way possible.
Neuromodulators temporarily relax targeted facial muscles to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. They are our most popular treatment because it’s quick, there’s minimal downtime, and they deliver a refreshed, youthful look without changing your natural expressions.
Microneedling uses tiny, controlled micro-injuries to the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. It’s amazing for improving texture, minimizing pores, softening scars, and giving the skin an overall glow. For enhanced results, it can be paired with serums, exosomes, or growth factors to deeply nourish the skin during the healing process.
EZ Gel is an all-natural regenerative treatment made from your own blood like PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) but with an added step that creates a smooth, gel-like consistency. It’s rich in growth factors and perfect for under-eye hollows, fine lines, and volume loss. The results are subtle, natural, and long-lasting, making it a beautiful option for clients who want to age gracefully.
Which treatments are part of your personal routine?
Personally, I believe that radiant skin starts with a solid skincare routine, and I love combining ZO Skin Health and Hydrinity. While skincare lays the foundation, I have also experienced the benefits of neuromodulators, dermal fillers, and Sculptra. And I always make time for a monthly facial to keep my skin healthy, glowing, and refreshed. It’s all about balance nurturing your skin from the inside out and supporting it with the right treatments along the way.
What would you say to someone who is curious about a service at Solymar Med Spa but has never had any aesthetic treatments before?
Something I’m very passionate about is education. In the world of aesthetics, it’s essential to educate yourself on procedures and treatments from credible, clinical sources, not just social media. While those platforms can spark curiosity, they often leave out important details about safety, efficacy, and long-term results. Making informed decisions starts with understanding the science, the technique, and the credentials behind what you’re choosing. Empowered clients are confident clients and education is the first step.
Also, it is crucial to ask the right questions: Who is injecting you? What is their experience and clinical background? Aesthetic treatments are medical procedures, and choosing a qualified, well-trained provider impacts your safety and results.
What do you hope your clients get out of the treatments they receive at Solymar Med Spa?
Everyone’s expectations are different, but my greatest hope is that every client who walks into Solymar Med Spa leaves with two things: trust and confidence. Trust that they are in the hands of someone who truly cares about their safety, goals, and well-being and confidence that they are walking out feeling like the very best version of themselves. At the end of the day, it’s not just about the procedure, it’s about the experience and the relationship we build together.
How do you hope your clients feel when they leave Solymar Med Spa?
I hope every client who walks into Solymar Med Spa feels they have made the best decision for themselves. My goal is never to sell a treatment, but to provide safe, effective medical care that helps them look and feel confident, empowered, and amazing. More than anything, I want to build a trusted relationship, where you feel heard and guided every step of the way. The aesthetics journey is personal and I’m truly grateful to every client that trusted me to be part of it.
