Flat Feet: More Than Just a Foot Problem

Flat feet are a common condition characterized by low or absent arches, causing the entire sole of the foot to contact the ground. While many people associate flat feet with foot pain, the condition can affect the entire lower body. Altered foot biomechanics may contribute to pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back.

Some people are born with flat feet,  adults may develop them from aging, injury, arthritis, or weakening arch tendons. Common symptoms include aching feet, fatigue during standing or walking, swelling and difficulty with physical activities.

Treatment often includes supportive footwear, stretching and strengthening exercises, physical therapy, and custom orthotics. When conservative treatments fail and symptoms progress, surgical reconstruction may be considered. It is important to see a podiatrist so we can assess and determine the best next steps to get you back on your feet.

Healthy Homes Never Go Out of Style

A beautiful home isn't just about paint colors, furniture, or curb appeal. The best-looking homes are also clean, dry, and healthy. Now is the perfect time to tackle a few projects that protect your home and your investment.

If you haven't had your dryer vent cleaned this year, now is the time. Lint buildup is one of the leading causes of house fires, and a professional cleaning is an inexpensive way to reduce that risk.

Late summer humidity can make hidden moisture problems more noticeable. Musty odors, discoloration, or mold growth in basements, attics, and bathrooms are often signs of excess moisture needs to be addressed. A quality dehumidifier can help control humidity and prevent mold.

Finally, don't ignore lingering drywall or ceiling damage from winter leaks. Those stains may seem harmless, but they often indicate moisture that should be repaired. Taking care of small issues now helps keep your home looking its best all year long.
