When it comes to building a business that actually works for one's life, few people understand the nuances better than Breanna Kleeschulte. The founder of Hey It's Bre K, Bre is a fourth-generation entrepreneur and operational strategy consultant with decades of experience helping female CEOs.
Here, for City Lifestyle readers, Bre's sharing 10 powerful prompts to help everyone pause, reassess and realign, because midyear is the perfect time to stop running on autopilot and take a real look at where one's business or career is headed.
- Audit before you add. Before chasing a new idea, strategy or offer, audit what you already have. Most of us are sitting on untapped revenue.
- Get curious about your calendar, all of it. Summer has a way of exposing exactly how little margin you've built into your life. Then, get strategic about automation. Anything that requires repetition can be automated. The goal is to be fully present wherever you are.
- Align your work with your strengths, then use them strategically. When you work in alignment with how you naturally think, relate and execute, everything gets easier and more effective.
- Addressing something we've been holding back feels uncomfortable, so we just...don't. But the thing you're not saying out loud is usually costing you.
- It's not the person; it's the process. If something keeps going wrong, don't immediately look at who's responsible. Look at the process. Most recurring problems in business aren't a people issue. They're a system issue in disguise.
- Stop optimizing life for the appearance of "busy" and start optimizing for impact. At the end of the day, nobody is handing out awards for who worked the most hours.
- Ask your best clients what they actually value. You might be spending energy on things your clients don't even notice while underdelivering on the things they'd pay more for. A simple conversation can open up your next offer, your next case study and your next referral.
- Tolerance = Avoidance. When avoiding something, it's usually because we can't see the "how" of making it happen. Stop and look at what you've been tolerating. Outsource it, automate it or just start it. Every single step toward completion counts.
- Explore a new room. As a big energy person, Bre says, "I know firsthand that when things get stagnant, something needs to move to create flow." Rearrange your office. Clean out a closet. Shift things around. Some of the best business breakthroughs come from a fresh perspective.
- Get clear. When was the last time you actually asked yourself what you want? It sounds like a simple question, but most high-achieving individuals haven't stopped to answer it. If you had exactly what you wanted, how would you feel at the end of the day? Clarity is the only way to get exactly what you asked for.
