Steve and Alex Dorsa are longtime Chattanooga residents and the husband-wife duo behind The Lookout Living Team of Epique Realty. Along with their three children—two young boys and a baby girl—they spend their free time exploring Chattanooga as a family and have the season passes to prove it. “We go to the parks all the time,” Steve and Alex share. “We've got season passes to the aquarium, Rock City, and Dollywood. We love a good season pass.”
Between the boys getting involved in Cub Scouts and Alex enjoying time with her bunco group, the Dorsa family is always finding new ways to connect with their community.
Steve and Alex are passionate about Chattanooga and love helping people discover the area. Through their real estate work, they have lots of opportunities to welcome others into their hometown. Today, Steve and Alex are sharing several of their favorite spots just in time for summer adventures with friends and family.
Fun for the Whole Family
Looking for places to go with the kids this summer? Steve, Alex, and their kids enjoy baseball games at Lookout Stadium, day trips to Dollywood, and getting Thai food from their friends over at Sweet Basil. They also heartily recommend the community-built and maintained Pumpkin Patch Playground (open year-round), Little Debbie Park to play on life-sized versions of the treats, and farm days at Hidden Hills Farms. For a little more of a thrill, try Cleveland Skate Rink or grab a piece of cardboard and slide down Cardboard Hill.
Steve and Alex's Neighborhood Favorites
For those considering putting down roots in Chattanooga, Steve and Alex suggest taking a closer look at two of their favorite neighborhoods.
For those who like a more spread-out but still community-oriented neighborhood, Hidden Harbor neighborhood in Hixson provides the perfect place. The large neighborhood provides comfort and community through lake access, basketball and pickleball courts, and a swimming pool.
For a newer feel and community living, Black Creek is a neighborhood worth noticing. Hiking trails, restaurants, swimming pools, a golf course, a dog park, and more are featured in Black Creek. “It's a community more than a neighborhood,” Alex says. “It's one-of-a-kind.” With a variety of home styles and special events like market days, the neighborhood provides everything needed for a community that easily becomes home.
Iconic Chattanooga
When Steve and Alex think of Chattanooga, several places come to mind. Walnut Street Bridge and Coolidge Park go hand in hand. With stunning views from the pedestrian bridge and fountains for kids to play in at the park, there’s something for the whole family. Coolidge Park also sports a carousel and Clumpie’s Ice Cream, so it’s perfect for summer days with the family. Steve and Alex love hosting their yearly summer party for their clients at Coolidge Park.
Date Ideas for a Chattanooga Night Out
As people who enjoy a good date night, Steve and Alex recommend several spots for couples to spend time together. The Chattanooga Market is a favorite—Alex especially loves the flowers sold there—for a Sunday of food trucks and exploring the market. It’s also family-friendly, so it can be a great family outing.
On the evenings that call for a romantic dinner for two, the Italian restaurant Alleia is perfect. For a full evening date, pair dinner with one of Steve’s favorites, the Walker Theatre, to see a musical or comedian.
For a casual date with a view, head to the Whiskey Thief. “It’s a really nice bar for a date night,” Steve says. Located in a riverfront hotel overlooking Walnut Street Bridge, it’s great for an evening out.
