Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year is Very Peri, a strong and exuberant color that’s goal is to celebrate being bold and courageous as well as to embrace the digital world. To begin the process of applying this vivid color of the year,  it is helpful to first understand the color. The color Very Peri involves qualities of a very dynamic blue while also portraying violet hues due to its red undertone.

The vibrance of Very Peri might seem intimidating at first but choosing complimentary colors and materials is key to creating the right palette. A great way to visualize how this color can work for your space is by creating mood boards. The Casita & Co. team pulled together a couple of mood boards using the vibrant pop of Very Peri.

Client One: Preteen wanting a room that feels fun and a little more grown up

We wanted to celebrate the vibrancy that Very Peri expresses. We paired the color alongside playful blues and warm textures to compliment the energetic shade. We imagine that the color would be a perfect fit for a preteen’s bedroom due to the color's youthful but confident nature.

Client Two: A home palette where neutrals dominate the majority of features, and color is used as an unexpected accent

To highlight Very Peri in a space it can be paired with neutral or more subdued complimentary tones. Instead of taking away from the color, it can be uplifted and become the center of attention while the neutral colors also can provide visual breaks. We complimented Very Peri’s attributes with cool neutral tones that contrast the color as well as bring it balance. Using this method invites the color to shine in everyday living spaces without overwhelming the space.

Both mood boards using Very Peri provide a better visual understanding of how the color can interact and blend. The color Very Peri has a very energetic presence that instantly livens up any space. Whether it is used as a monochromatic Very Peri masterpiece or applied in a more simple form such as a staple accent piece in a room.
