Fall Fashion from the Runway

Start your own trends

I’ve learned a thing or two about trends in my time as a brand strategist. What I’ve learned about fashion trends is that it’s more fun to forge your own path. For me, the magic happens in the space between and to the left or right of trends.

With some direction from ANT/DOTE creative director and buyer Karlo Steele, let’s take a look at what some of the top fashion houses are doing this fall.

Burberry ushers in a new era with Daniel Lee at the helm as chief creative officer. His debut collection reimagines their signature check with new proportions and bold color pairings. Moody fits in aubergine and olive serve low-key glamor. The check isn't the only pattern on offer this season. Dare to go all-in with a head-to-toe mallard-print look in contrasting colorways.

An ANT/DOTE fave, Balenciaga creates bold, high-fashion pieces that make a statement but are infinitely wearable. Oversized puffers and deconstructed suit jackets tease volume with broad-shouldered silhouettes in the label’s signature black and dark-neutral palette.

Sacai designer and founder Chitose Abe slayed this season. This collection ticks all my boxes. Sliced fabrics create asymmetrical hemlines and a bold leg reveal. Tick. Frayed seams and exposed thread say “Imperfect is perfect.” Tick. Just a hint of a sequin. Tick all day. These are feminine, classic looks tweaked just slightly left of center. The quirk is in the details. If you know, you know.
