Style is identity. It is how we show up for our lives. Historically, style has been the morale boost citizens have depended on in times of national hardship. What we wear is very simply; our personal expression. Boise keeps it eclectic with diverse genres of styles from the timeless classics to mixed pieces from local boutiques, and innovative designs by local artists. The evolution Boise’s fashion is on its way with the population flux we are seeing in the Treasure Valley. Over the next decade the diversity of various cultures will define style in Boise.

Fall is the most romantic time of year. Dropping temperatures coinciding with rich tones from the earth entice us to “cozy up”. Layers facilitate opportunities in a Fall wardrobe to have both versatility in outfits and the ability to warm up or cool down when needed.
The rule for style this Fall; STOP following the rules. Feel free to pair a 70s vintage fringe jacket with a modern wet look pant or wear shoes that don’t color match an outfit. Have fun with jackets, hats, and statement items! The confidence that’s carried by an individual when wearing something loved is what “pulls it off”.
Dillard’s is my go-to department store for business attire/accessories when I am touring the Valley with my real estate clients. I pop in over at Serendipity Boutique Consignment Clothing for fun vintage looks. I acquire quality belts and fun Western boots from D&B Supply. Rooney Mae Couture designs striking event gowns and resort wear. If I can’t find what I am envisioning, I commission a local designer to make it. I make my own jewelry to compliment an outfit on occassion.

Locals would agree that we enjoy the best of all four seasons. Fall is no exception.
Boise men’s fashion is born out of function and practicality. History shows that the classic looks remain consistent even 20 years into the new millennium. The color palette for fall is deep, rich, and warm, but there are no hard-set rules. The biggest occasion for personal expression exists in bold pops of color paired with more traditional pieces.
For decades the necktie was a man’s primary form of plumage. Today the statement torch has proudly been passed down to the sock. Loud colorful socks of every imaginable print pattern and theme steal the show. Like the warm cozy sweaters of fall, men’s socks now serve as conversation starters and banners of individual personality.
David Graves, owner of Alexander Davis men’s store in downtown Boise shares, “It’s not about a new color of the season, but more the exact color and tone that is inviting that no one really has. Its fluid, it’s not about just clothes; it’s all about the personality that owns the clothes that matter. Today’s fashion is all about what makes you feel good and look good.“
To speak plainly, few men reading this have entirely separate wardrobes for each season. Fall is a beautiful time of year providing a fun opportunity for creative layering and showing one’s true colors. Show yours this season in a way that embraces the best of your Boise lifestyle.
