A relatively calm month before the hectic fun of the holidays begins, November provides the perfect opportunity to take time to enjoy the cooler weather, engage in a few low-stress activities and adventures, and foster a spirit of thankfulness.
Visit a local Farmers Market
Most farmers markets are open on Saturdays, especially early in the day. These fun events provide a great opportunity for a family or romantic outing while supporting local vendors and artisans. The variety of products available even provides an opportunity to do a little early Christmas shopping.
An evening around the fire pit
As the evenings get a bit cooler, it’s a perfect time to unplug and spend the evening outside enjoying smores by the fire. Add an element of fun with a group game of charades using fall-themed prompts. Multiply the fun by inviting friends to join.
Bounty of Blessings
Taking the time to acknowledge what we are thankful for fosters a heart of gratitude. A fun, easy way to visually see an abundance of blessings is to use pre-cut fall colored paper leaves (or even better have the kids cut out some) for a fun activity. Beginning November 1st, each person writes one thing they are thankful for on a leaf each day. The item can be a person, place, thing, or non-tangible blessing ranging from small to big. The challenge is to not repeat items. Collect the leaves in a basket or string the leaves on a banner. By Thanksgiving Day, you’ll have an amazing visual representation of your family’s blessings.
