In the rooms featured here and in the innumerable interiors he has transformed throughout his career, Greg marries tradition with an element of the unexpected with subtle layers of singular textures to reflect the individuality of each space and homeowner.
Impactful Details
The Home of Ellie and Tom Lawrence
Greg centered the direction of this room around an expressive painting by Vita Reed, a lifelong Memphian and artist represented locally by David Lusk. Greg worked around the existing black lacquered background by replacing white, recessed portions of the ceiling with grass cloth that is interwoven with a faint thread of black. He made artistic decisions based on texture with embellishments such as a leather band around the base of the ottoman and miniature lumbar pillows on the sofa. A layered selection of bold materials–metal, leather, wool and more–are pivotal to the reinvention of a room where intricate yet impactful details prevail.
Bold Sophistication
The Home of Sherri and Kevin Kimery
In a family home where the majority population is female, this study is Kevin’s reprieve. Greg designed it with a masculine energy, and, because Kevin is President and CEO of Kimery Wealth Management, Greg creatively chose to use pinstriped wool on the walls, a tribute to Kevin’s role as a businessman. A custom mohair couch, a ceiling covered in embossed leather, art lights, and handsome molding complete this well-appointed room with sophistication and balance. While the design of this space emphasizes Kevin’s lifestyle, it is a place both Sherri and Kevin enjoy every evening.
A Stately Retreat
The Home of Greg Baudoin and Greg Cambell
“The room by nature is a study; however, it has lived many lives,” Greg explains about this stately retreat in his home.
Greg’s study is an impressive extension of the master bedroom. A work of art from the Ted Faiers estate, represented locally by the David Lusk Gallery, is important to the success of this design. It is an ideal location for showcasing the men’s extensive art collection. Also, antique books line the shelves. They are part of a vast collection that both Greg Baudoin and Greg Campbell, a prolific floral designer in the Memphis area, are proud of with the earliest book dating back to 1634.
The walls are faux painted with a brushed wood pattern that adds earthy glamour, and two T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings (1905–76) chairs flank an antique chest, adding a touch of history to this noble room.
Foundational to the aesthetic of these restful, interior spaces is the rigorous use of detail that Greg is known for in his vast portfolio of work. Those details are selected and thoughtfully incorporated to mirror the lives and character or each client.
