Dr. Suresh Ramaswamy is set to welcome his daughter, Dr. Sarika Ramaswamy, to Ramaswamy Orthodontics in Rockland and Bergen County, maintaining the family atmosphere the business has retained for 25 years.
Dr. Sarika’s journey in orthodontics began when she was young, watching her father in his offices engage with the technical and personal sides of his work, building relationships with and helping each of his patients. Inspired by his passion and the positive impact he had on the community, Dr. Sarika pursued her own path in orthodontics.
“Getting to work alongside my father,” Dr. Sarika said, “adds a layer of excitement to my career, it’s not just about continuing a family tradition, but also about learning from his experience while contributing to the well-being of those around us.”
For Dr. Sarika, that contribution comes in various forms, including bracket positioning. She tackles this particular task with a level of patience that is often rewarded with both the teeth moving into their designated positions and the patient’s happy face at seeing such progress.
Dr. Sarika is set to not only see more of these smiles but further learn about orthodontics by witnessing the business side of running a practice under her father’s mentorship, a process she had already begun to learn in school.
“Earlier this year,” Dr. Sarika stated, “I took a course through the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the American Association of Orthodontists on mastering the business side of orthodontics. I believe understanding the business is just as crucial as the clinical expertise, and this course has been an invaluable step in preparing me for the next phase of my career.”
At the end of the day, though, Dr. Sarika is most excited for this new chapter in her career because she will give back to the community she loves dearly, making meaningful differences each day one smile at a time.
