For the past 43 years, the Hospice of Redmond Festival of Trees has been a holiday tradition that brings joy to thousands in Central Oregon while raising funds that provide critical support to those navigating life’s most challenging moments. What feels like a magical evening for attendees becomes real, meaningful care for neighbors who need it most.
At last year’s Festival of Trees, Hospice of Redmond, one of the oldest hospice providers both in the state and in Central Oregon, announced it would be changing its name to ClearPath Healthcare. Along with this rebranding, ClearPath Healthcare also began offering in-home primary care, a service which brings convenient and stable care right to the patient’s home without the stress of transportation.
In communities big or small, change takes some time to get used to. “This was just a name change. We have the same leadership, same board, same mission, same heart and now, serving more people,” says Stephanie Odell, ClearPath Healthcare’s Giving and Outreach Specialist and Festival of Trees Event Coordinator.
This year’s Festival of Trees will be held on Saturday, December 5 at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. Between 1-2,000 people attend this annual, unforgettable daytime event featuring over 30 beautifully decorated trees, shopping and visits with Santa. The ticketed evening gala features a live auction of tree packages, a silent auction, raffle, live entertainment, and games, as well as drinks, appetizers, a full buffet and dessert. Truly a night to remember, funds raised through the Festival of Trees make a meaningful difference in the Central Oregon community, sustaining programs that define ClearPath Healthcare.
ClearPath Healthcare, formerly Hospice of Redmond, began in 1979 as an all-volunteer agency and became a registered non-profit in 1982. As a unique nonprofit healthcare organization, ClearPath offers several free programs, with its main mission to provide Central Oregonians with high-quality care wherever they call home. They focus on heartfelt support and guidance throughout a patient’s healthcare journey and at the end of life.
Serving individuals and families across Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties, ClearPath Healthcare focuses on older adults with serious illnesses, family caregivers, veterans, and those facing barriers related to geography, transportation, caregiving demands, and limited access to services. They provide compassionate, person-centered care designed to meet individuals and families wherever they are.
“ClearPath differs from other hospices because we offer a free case management and resource-support program called ‘Transitions’ for people who do not qualify for hospice,” explains Odell. “We provide an in-home primary care service for anyone 55+ who struggles to get in to see their primary care provider. There is no charge for the in-home primary care, and we only bill insurance for this service, which is unique.”
Financially supported programs at ClearPath Healthcare include hospice care for uninsured patients, transitions care coordination, free community grief support, a free grief camp for children called Camp Sunrise, a veteran-focused program, and in-home primary care.
Adds Odell, “When the community supports ClearPath Healthcare, they are supporting our neighbors, friends and families throughout Central Oregon. They are also supporting children who are grieving, caregivers who are exhausted, and individuals seeking comfort, dignity, and hope.”
