FASHION YOUR WAY
For Rebekah Fisher, owner of True Find Boutique, fashion has always been about more than what is trending. It is a way to express individuality, embrace change, and feel confident in what you wear.
“I firmly believe that our style should reflect and celebrate our lives, individuality and personalities,” she says. It is a philosophy that shapes both her personal style and the experience she creates at True Find, where she helps clients discover clothing that feels authentic to them.
This fall offers plenty of opportunities to experiment. Fisher is seeing rich brocade and jacquard fabrics, intricate embroidery, paisley patterns, and beaded details bringing texture and personality to the season. Tuxedo-inspired dressing is also making an impact, along with monochromatic suiting, which she loves for its ability to create a long, streamlined silhouette.
Her advice is not to adopt every trend, but to find the ones that speak to you. Start small with an unexpected accessory, experiment with a new texture or rethink a piece already hanging in your closet. The goal is not to look like everyone else. It is to use fashion as a way to show a little more of who you are.
MIX IT UP
Some of fall’s most interesting looks come from combinations that once might have broken the rules. Fisher is embracing the continued trend of mixing textures and patterns, pairing lace with leather, florals with plaid, and soft knits with more structured pieces.
Accessories offer an easy way to experiment without committing to an entirely new look. Bold jewelry, colorful scarves, ties, and brooches can bring personality to pieces you already own. Fisher especially loves the return of the brooch, worn traditionally on a jacket or styled unexpectedly on a scarf, tie, belt or delicate necklace chain.
The same approach can refresh an existing wardrobe. Try new layers, unexpected color combinations or contrasting fabrics. “Fashion should be about self-expression,” Fisher says. Forget outdated rules and give yourself permission to wear what feels interesting, flattering, and distinctly yours.
FROM DAY TO NIGHT
A versatile wardrobe should move with you, and transitioning a look from day to evening does not require a complete outfit change. Fisher recommends starting with a strong foundation, then using a few strategic swaps to change the mood.
A tailored dress, jumpsuit or classic trousers and blouse can easily work for both. For daytime, keep things relaxed with loafers or flats, a practical tote and simple jewelry. When evening arrives, swap in heels or statement boots, trade the tote for a structured clutch and add bold earrings or layered necklaces.
Scarves are another favorite styling tool. A silk scarf worn loosely around the neck during the day can be restyled for evening, even transformed into a chic top with a ring, bracelet or hair tie to secure it.
The finishing touches can be just as simple. A deeper lip color, added eyeliner or a quick change to a sleek ponytail or bun can instantly make an outfit feel more polished.
The key is choosing pieces with versatility in mind. When your wardrobe has a strong foundation, a handful of thoughtful changes can take you almost anywhere.
THE ESSENTIALS
Building a fall wardrobe does not mean starting over each season. For Fisher, it begins with versatile pieces that can be layered, restyled, and worn in ways that feel entirely different.
At the top of her list is a quality tailored wool coat in a timeless neutral such as camel, taupe or charcoal. Structured blazers are another essential, along with chunky knits, wide-leg trousers and midi skirts in luxe fabrics such as velvet or silk. Statement boots add personality, while neutral turtlenecks provide an easy foundation for layering.
Fisher also recommends looking at what is already in your closet with fresh eyes. A full button-down maxi dress can become a lightweight duster when worn open. A colorful scarf can transform a simple outfit. Mixing textures, experimenting with unexpected color combinations or adding a new belt, bag or piece of jewelry can make familiar clothing feel new again.
And never underestimate fit. One of the most common styling mistakes Fisher sees is overlooking how clothing fits the individual. Tailoring a piece you already own can completely change how it looks, feels and ultimately gets worn.
Most importantly, she encourages clients to stop letting old fashion rules dictate their choices. White after Labor Day? Absolutely. Bright colors and bold prints in fall? Even better. Fashion should leave room for creativity, experimentation, and personality.
Her favorite rule to break may be the fear of being overdressed. As Fisher puts it, “‘Overdressed’ is just a rude way of saying you look better than everyone else.”
