First Responder of the Month

Benny Bolin

Benny Bolin is a 1975 graduate of Allen High School and one of five generations of Allen-dwelling Bolins, including Benny's paternal grandparents, Luther and Anna Mae Bolin, for whom Bolin Elementary is named.

Today Benny, whose family donated the land on which Bolin Elementary was built, is still proud to be an Eagle and spends his days caring for the thousands of students who attend the high school each day.

After graduating from Baylor University, he earned his EMT certification through Baylor Hospital in Dallas where he went on to work as a tech until his supervisor convinced him to become a nurse. He has been a nurse for the past 41 years. He served on the Allen ISD School Board from 2006 to 2012. In 2007, when his son was a baritone player, he began working as the AHS Escadrille nurse and went on to serve as a nurse at AHS starting in 2013.

Much has changed since Benny was a student. He notes, "We see everything at this school. With 5,200 students and 500 staff, we are larger than many towns in Texas. We see so many different and challenging issues it is sometimes hard to keep up."

But Benny rises to meet the challenge. For him, the most rewarding part of the job is "Helping students and staff who are truly in need of medical assistance."
