At Flower Child, healthy eating meets food you genuinely want to eat. The new fast-casual restaurant in Corinth Quarter with plenty of options for diners who are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or simply looking for a meal that leaves them feeling good.
“Flower Child is a fast-casual restaurant built around the idea that healthy food should be craveable, accessible and enjoyable for everyone,” says Kenny Barsalou, Regional Manager of Restaurant Operations for Flower Child. “We make everything fresh in-house every day with a menu of customizable bowls, wraps, salads, vegetables, grains and proteins.”
The new location marks an exciting milestone for the restaurant, which now has 45 locations nationwide and its first in Kansas. Corinth Quarter, with its neighborhood atmosphere and connection to the Kansas City dining scene, was a natural fit.
“We were really excited about the opportunity to become part of a community that values good food and healthy lifestyles,” Barsalou says.
That same emphasis on good food and healthy living carries through to the menu, where wholesome ingredients take center stage. Guests can build a meal around their preferred protein, grain and vegetables, making it easy to find something that fits their cravings or dietary preferences.
For a first visit, Barsalou recommends the Mother Earth Bowl, a longtime favorite that combines colorful ingredients and plenty of flavor. The 1924 Wrap is another standout, while entrée options pair a choice of protein with two sides, such as Red Chile Glazed Sweet Potatoes or Gluten-Free Mac & Cheese. Protein options include chicken, shrimp, steak, salmon and tofu.
The menu also makes room for a range of dietary preferences. The Mother Earth Bowl is vegan, while the Chopped Vegetable Salad is both vegan and gluten-free. And dessert gets its own unique treatment with gluten-free options including Lemon Olive Oil Cake and Double Chocolate Almond Brownie.
For those who gravitate toward comfort food, Flower Child takes a fresh approach to familiar favorites. Smashed Gold Potatoes can share the plate with olive oil roasted vegetables and a fresh protein, while The Rebel “French Dip” Wrap offers a more indulgent-feeling option.
One of the menu’s early local favorites is the rose petal lemonade, part of Flower Child’s lineup of house-made lemonades. It’s a fitting complement to the restaurant’s colorful, produce-forward menu.
“We take familiar flavors and approach them with fresh, wholesome ingredients,” Barsalou says. “The idea is that guests shouldn’t have to choose between food that feels comforting and food that makes you feel good.”
The restaurant’s fast-casual format also makes it well suited to the pace of everyday life. A quick lunch can be ordered at the counter, while the dining room and patio offer a more leisurely setting for catching up with friends or enjoying dinner with family. To-go options make it easy to bring Flower Child home, too.
That sense of hospitality is central to the experience. Barsalou says the restaurant puts as much thought into how guests feel as it does the food they order.
“We want guests to walk in and feel welcomed, energized and taken care of,” he says. “Whether they’re grabbing a quick lunch or sitting down with friends and family, the goal is to create a feel-good experience from start to finish.”
Ultimately, Flower Child aims to become a place guests can return to for whatever the day calls for with a menu designed to fit easily into everyday life.
“Healthy food can be genuinely craveable,” Barsalou says. And with its newest location, Flower Child is bringing more of that to the table.
