Food Is Love

The magazine staff shares their favorite meals around Huntsville

Food is a way for people to share their love for something with others. Food brings us together, and even those who may not have much in common find relatability in the comfort that food brings. Lunch is one of our favorite times at Huntsville City Lifestyle because it is a time for us to come together and slow down, and depending on the day, to share a new or beloved favorite amongst friends. Take a trip around town with us to get an inside look at some of the magazine staff's favorite meals!

Fried Chicken Sandwich- The Standard

You can't beat The Standard for a good sandwich. I am a big fan of their burger, but then I had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and I can't get enough! It is a Southern fried chicken classic with an asian slaw that keeps things interesting! And you cant go wrong with their fries, regular or sweet potato.

Steak Erie- Beezr

My go-to lunch might be the Steak Erie from Beezr! I have been on the hunt for the best philly in town for a while now, and this sandwich exceeded my expectations. They go above and beyond with their house made brioche roll and thick-cut ribeye, but what really sets it off is the beer cheese sauce poured over and soaked into the sandwich.

Sea Salt Oysters

I am an oyster girl and do not miss an opportunity to enjoy carefully selected bivalves from across the United States with a hint of hot sauce. One of my favorite meals is a dozen oysters on the half shell. There is nowhere better in town to enjoy these than Sea Salt located downtown on Clinton Avenue.

Caprese Pizza- Beezr

Beezr pizza is light and crispy with fresh toppings. I like to keep it light so the Caprese pizza is perfect for a quick lunch at the office! The flavors blend seamlessly together and I never feel too bogged down after a few slices! The veggie hedgehog pizza is a close second!

Bom Bom Acai Bowl- Honest Coffee

I am a big acai bowl fan, and I especially love the way Honest does them. They have the perfect acai to granola ratio, and the fruit makes the whole thing so refreshing. Adding bee pollen and peanut butter is a must for me. This is my number one meal for breakfast and lunch in town!

Steak Bowl- La Esquina

I love the bowls from La Esquina, specifically the Steak Bowl, but I add the aioli that comes on the shrimp bowl! Their ingredients are so fresh and each dish is crafted so thoughtfully. I always leave feeling full and satisfied but not heavy.

Chicken Curry-Viet Cuisine

I truly love the Chicken Curry at Viet Cuisine. The yellow curry is thick and rich, and blends perfectly with the chicken, baby corn, broccoli, carrots, and onions that make the dish. It’s a great comfort dish.

Queso Fundido- Del Chuco

In keeping with the comfort theme, I also really enjoy the Queso Fundido appetizer at Del Chuco Cantina Y Concina. The dish is broiled Monterey Jack with Oaxaca cheeses served with warm tortillas. You can choose chorizo, shrimp, or mushrooms as optional toppings.
