Foothills Community Market

Where Local Roots Grow Strong

Nestled in the heart of the Catalina Foothills, Foothills Community Markets has grown into more than just a shopping destination—it’s become a movement. Built on a foundation of sustainability, community engagement, and support for small businesses, the market thrives under the passionate leadership of Joe and Darcy Myers. What started as a modest gathering of local vendors has blossomed into a vibrant hub where connections are made, creativity is celebrated, and the local economy flourishes.

The journey of Foothills Community Markets began with a simple yet powerful vision: to create a space where artisans, bakers, and small business owners could not only sell their goods but thrive as part of a larger, connected community. While the market changed ownership several times in its early years, everything changed when Joe and Darcy Myers took the helm in March 2022. They were embarking on a journey to fulfill a lifelong dream. “We wanted to build something that wasn’t just about selling products, but about fostering a sense of belonging and community,” says Darcy Myers.

As former vendors themselves, Joe and Darcy deeply understood the struggles small business owners face—limited exposure, unpredictable sales, and the difficulty of turning creative passion into a sustainable livelihood. Having been on the other side of the table, they knew firsthand what it was like to set up before sunrise, hoping for enough customers to make the long hours worthwhile. This personal experience gave them a unique perspective and a profound empathy for the vendors they now support.

Their goal was simple but ambitious: to build a market that went beyond transactions and became a pillar of the community—a place where vendors felt supported, customers could trust they were buying ethically sourced goods, and where relationships could flourish between buyers and sellers alike. Joe and Darcy set out to create a market by vendors, for vendors.

On any given weekend, a stroll through the bustling rows of vendors at Foothills Community Markets offers more than just a shopping experience. The scent of freshly baked bread mingles with the crisp desert air, and conversations flow freely between customers and artisans. It’s a social gathering spot where neighbors reconnect, friendships are formed, and locals take pride in supporting businesses that make our community unique.

“It’s about more than just transactions,” explains Darcy. “We want people to feel like they’re part of something bigger—something that truly matters.”

One of the market’s greatest successes has been its ability to uplift small-scale artisans, many of whom have struggled to find a platform for their work. The market not only provides these entrepreneurs with exposure but also gives them a loyal customer base that values locally made, sustainably sourced products.

The market has also introduced special initiatives that reinforce its commitment to the community. One organization close to the hearts of Darcy and Joe is the Pima Animal Care Center. Through their partnership with Pinups for PACC and events like UnPack the PACC, the couple consistently works to give back to all members of our community, including our four-legged friends.

Despite its success, the market’s journey hasn’t always been easy. Darcy recalls the early struggles of securing permits, recruiting vendors, and ensuring financial stability. “At first, it felt like an uphill battle, but the community rallied behind us,” she says.

Through perseverance, grassroots marketing, and unwavering dedication, the market steadily grew, attracting more vendors and customers each week. Word of mouth became its most powerful ally, with visitors sharing their experiences and encouraging others to explore what has quickly become a Catalina Foothills staple.

“We never want to lose sight of what makes this market special,” says Darcy. “That’s why we’re always looking for ways to improve—while staying true to our roots.”

From its humble beginnings to its current success, Foothills Community Markets stands as a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives. It has provided a space for local businesses to thrive, given consumers access to high-quality, locally made products, and created an environment where human connection is just as valuable as commerce.

Darcy believes the market’s true success isn’t measured in sales figures or foot traffic, but in the stories of the people it has touched—the vendor who expanded their business, the farmer who found a loyal customer base, and the families who make visiting the market a cherished weekend tradition.

“At the end of the day, this market belongs to the community,” says Darcy. “And as long as they continue to support it, we’ll keep finding ways to give back.”

Foothills Community Markets isn’t just a place to shop—it’s a place to belong. It’s where passion meets purpose, where the entrepreneurial spirit of Catalina Foothills comes together, and where every purchase tells a story.

Foothills Community Markets, located at 7325 N. La Cholla Blvd., is open Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. May through September, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. October through April.
